Some of us parents are concerned that some of finley elementary teachers are not as good at teaching as some of the older and retired teacher its appears to some of us residents that we now have some snooty teachers who think they are better than the underprivelaged, you can dress a kid in the finest of clothes but even the kids with the poorest of clothes can learn, this needs to be stopped, finley is not like the city school system all finley kids are teachable and deserve as much attention as the ones who think they are wealthy when really they are in debt, mary ellen you better get a grip on your teachers before some parent does

why are Finley teachers allowed to wear leggings with shirts. You can almost see their butts. Not a good example at all.

It looks like you went to Finley and did not learn. Why don't you learn how to make a sentence and then you can start judging the teachers.

Are you saying that the city students are unteachable and don't deserve attention? I can't tell, maybe it's because of your one sentence!

Oops...sounds like "Concerned" is an angry parent that probably isn't getting what they want. From what I know about the faculty, staff and principal at Finley, that school is as well run as any you could find anywhere. The teachers do a fantastic job and Dr. Watkins expects everyone to do their job to the best of their ability. I honestly cannot think of a soul at Finley that isn't a very concerned, caring and qualified individual. It has been my experience that the faculty and staff at Finley do an amazing job of recognizing and addressing the individual who have learning problems or disabilities that need to be addressed so that the child can perform to his, or her, best. Under most circumstances, someone who will not identify themselves or chooses to make accusations in a forum like this, is really just looking for the excuses excuses necessary to justify the behaviour of their child or themselves. If you have a problem with a teacher or with the school, go to the school, talk to the teacher, talk to the principal.

I wish that I would have kept my kids in City schools. Now, I drive them to town every morning so that they can get a good education.

I think its saddly entertaining that somepeople have nothing else better to do than bash educated people. Keep in mind that you should do a little (truthful)research before you bash the educated.

I am a PROUD FINLEY parent!!!!! I think you need to worry with your childs education not what the teachers are wearing. Every teacher down there dresses in a professional way and maybe you have not looked around in the world today but that is a dress with leggings not a shirt! And for your concern of not being good teachers maybe you need to rethink that. They are all great and wonderful caring teachers do lots of one on one and working with their class. You go FINLEY TEACHERS you are all wonderful people!!!

You are truely an ignorant person. What exactly are" rejected" teachers? Dr hedge hires qualified and educated individuals to fill teaching positions. The teachers are placed based on openings in schools. Finley is a great school. In fact, the teachers just got a huge bonus last month for being the ONLY school in the system to meet requirements for testing. Finley has a great group of teachers just like any school in the system. Get your facts together before you make an ignorant comment such as yours , again.

This whole topic is now becoming laughable. "Rejected" teachers sent to Finley and then 5th? This whole line of thinking is completely ridiculous and only assures me that the person who began this topic is merely a disgruntled parent. One thing that absolutely happens at Finley is that the teachers stay focused on each child, maintain a constant and consistent stream of communication with parents and have expectations that each child will perform and behave to the best of their individual abilities. For those of you that continue to comment about the high level of education available in the city schools, please take your child there and be happy with your choice. I have no idea why any parent would send their child to a school system that continues to fail in meeting state and federal testing benchmarks but to each their own. I really think, though, that continuing to bash a school/school system that is achieving when other systems are failing is pointless.
