How many more will it take before people realize that Dyersburg is a dying town? Both Buckets and Perkins closed for good last night and did not reopen for business today. When we ever get any different options of places to eat the employee pool of this nasty town is non existent. From horrible service and food to the same ignorant and rude employees. The job pool is non existent.

Tennessee, especially dyer county has worst meth crack head area in America. Get your self and your family out of that police state for the sake of your children. Living there is all about police, bible thumpers and JAIL. The more cops they hire the more crime. Its no joke.

Maybe you are too stupid to understand. That location of Perkins and Buckets had labor problems. They never had decent service. What is another drug store coming in there going to do for our city?

Who cares if Buckets closed? Their food and service sucked. Welcome to America!

buckets needed to be closed. Good place for a parking lot.. It wouldn't matter what goes there, the location sucks.. Perkins closed because the Hotel closed and their tearing down the building to sell the lot for new business. No matter what they build, it will mean more jobs. If people would look at the big picture instead of all the bad, maybe Dyersburg would be a better place. And Dyer Co is 10th statewide in meth cases and only that because the law enforcement enforce the meth laws. The new Chrysler Dodge dealership being built now will bring sales jobs, mechanic jobs and several others.

the owner of buckets told me that the business was good enough to sustain it.....

the problem was there was apparently some "skimming" going on from someone that was not caught until it was too late, and sunk it.....

was also told that a chain business was already wanting to buy the property from the lannoms to develop it....

I think you will see that lake rd is not dying, but about to develop with more businesses, from what I am hearing

Don't forget the old Catfish Galley is about to be razed and replaced with a new medical complex. I was also told that a real estate group out of Nashville is hot on the property across from the Cracker Barrell with a new retail development

Haha, Funny.. Red Lobster will not be coming to Dyersburg. Population no where near enough to support that..

We ate at Buckets exactly one time. We ordered the wings. What we were served looked like they had come from anorexic hummingbirds. We never went back.

UMMM...get your head out of YOUR BUTT! Dyersburg is a dying town. Politicians make it too hard to come into this town, not to mention HIGH taxes!! And constant crime rate climbing.

LOOK at towns AROUND Dyersburg. Jackson is constantly growing - however, they do have a HIGH crime rate (and Dyersburg is headed down that road.) Newbern is growing - new businesses, schools growing, and has nearly as much industry as Dyersburg. Medina has been growing for YEARS! Trenton is growing - new industry there. Milan is growing - new housing, retail and working on new industry. And the closest, and the one that will likely hurt Dburg the most - UNION CITY. They are growing. Discovery Park set to open in a week. Two new industries have went in there over the past 18mths, and of course Titan Tire coming back in Goodyear's place. Also a new industry is coming in there soon. I69 will be going through there soon. Red Lobster might go there first.

Cracker Barrel is the biggest thing I can think of that has happened in quite a long time.

I care that's who. Been out of work for alomost 6 months & can't seem to make anything happen. Opportunity sure moves slow around here these days. This hasn't always been the case for me either.

talk about someone who has no clue, union city is a ghost town....their latest factory is only replacing the hearth fire place that is closing later....

dyer county is one of the few counties in west Tennessee that has had a positive population growth during the last census, outside of Madison county.

obion county, and every other county around us is dying, other than Madison...

facts are facts....dyersburg and dyer county are doing just fine...

wait a couple of weeks, and you will be surprised at another announcement of another major new industry, and you will see just how stupid and uninformed you are...
not fine

You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine so here it is. If Dyersburg was doing so well, how come everyone goes OUT OF TOWN for shopping, eating and medical services? They have to put slogans on garbage trucks to "shop dyersburg." Where? This town has lost more and continues to lose more businesses but other surrounding counties have more to offer. Our downtown is nothing but mostly boarded up buildings with brand new sidewalks. For all the talk about "growth" I haven't seen it nor has all the other unemployed people who cannot find work here. For the ones who are employed, as I said, most I know of (and that's a lot) go out of town for just about everything because not only do you find better selection but also much better quality and service.
