Overall, I believe that the hospital is a good place. Seems like they're doing a lot, construction and decorating, to improve their image in the community.

you want a bad expierence, go to the emergency room! After you wait 5 hours to be seen, I am sure you will change your mind. The emergency room is the biggest flaw, they do hard workers, and nice folks in there, you just have to find them. Don't look in the ER.

If every cold sore and hangnail in Dyer Co wouldn't go to the er, there wouldn't be such a long wait. Turn over times vary according to the number of patients to be seen

I have been in the ER on several occasions with loved ones and I have observed more nonemergency cases than emergency. If you are well enough to go outside and smoke while you wait to be seen, you are well enough not to be clogging up the ER. DRMC has always treated me and my loved ones very well and we have nothing but gratitude and admiration for the hard work and dedicated service they provide to their patients.

i think what others have said about the er is true. if people would use it for real emergencies, there wouldn't be such long waits. and usually the ones who complian about waiting are the ones who should be at the doctors office instead. people with real emergencies, don't have to wait. the purpose of an er is to treat emergency situations, not headaches and colds

i have been to this er before and even though it was crowded, the clerks in the waiting area were so friendly. they offered coffee , drinks and even a coloring book to keep my son occupied. the other staff was great too, but the waiting room girls really made an impression on us

Usually the ones who are getting free care go to the ER. Those of us who pay for our care go to the dr. office and wait for a few hours to be seen. That has been my firsthand experience.

I have had several bad experience with the ER. and well one included me having a staph infection. Yes that is a normal doctors situation but well when it is 12 at night and your fever is over 103 there really isn't much you can do but go to the er. I literally waited 5 hours to be seen and in the mean time layed in the cold floor to make myself feel better.

The hospital needs to treat it's staff better. The nurses are overloaded with paperwork which takes time away from their patients. They write people up for no reason because they don't know how to manage and have no people skills. The upper management's only focus is the bottom line. I hope someone buys it out soon and makes improvements.

I had to take my wife to the ER with a broken humurus bone at the shoulder and her shoulder dislocated. We were in the waiting room for over 2 hours and they wouldn't even give her any pain medication or at least have a doctor come out and evaluate her situation. Once we got to the back, it took about 15 minutes for them to get her medication and when the doctor saw her, he couldn't believe that she was not brought back sooner. We were at there from around 7:15 until 2 am in the morning. They gave took some x-rays and gave her some pain pills and told us to go to an Ortho in the morning. You would think that with private insurance which I remind you pays quicker than TNCARE, the medical staff would be more prompt!

The way I see it, it shouldn't matter if the patient has private insurance or TNcare. The triage nurse should evaluate the situation and place people from there. There was one time that I was there that many folks went back before me and they shouldn't have. I waited in the waiting room from around 3:30pm to 9:30pm, and didn't leave the hospital until almost 2am. In saying that, that was only one time... I have been there and been seen quickly.

I think the dyersburg er sucks they made all this new er to supposedly b better and treat patients more quickly that's a laugh. My uncle was taken their with severe abdominal pain last week and they sent him home said nothing was wrong with him, that same night or the next can't remember his family had 2 call 911 0n him. He was taken to Treton hospital and diagnosed with full blown cancer throughout his body. Now our family is having 2 watch him slowly die and that is sad, Dyersburg ER should have found this if Trenton hospital could have so could they.

i have been ther a half of dozen times and have never had good sevice but one time. my 1 yr at that time was throwing blood up and the er doctor done ever test he could do and found out for sure mi son was really throwing up the blood. the er doc called for mi son to be airlifted to memphis. but his reg dr called it off. and mi self went there one time and i couldnt breathe and was hurting real bad in mi right side, how bout that er lt 4 people go before me and i have history of asthma so i finally told mi husband to take me to jackson cuz they wasnt doing shit for me here. once i get to jackson they gave me a breathing test and some exray and found a 2cm spot on mi right lung. i bet if i had stayed at dyersburg they would have over looked it... they killed mi g-mother too. and lyed about broken bones ect. i dont trust that hospital none to well. its a straight up band aid shope if you ask me..
i know alot of things on that hospital. mi daughter had apendix surgery and that dr fred moore the 3rd is the one who cut on her and he cut into her bowls she had to wear a bag on her side for 3wks and was in the hospital for 1 and a half months.they tried to hide the fact that he cliped her bowls. but when one of the nurse came back in from her off day she sliped up and told us he clipided throu her bowles. we have some of the worst dr in dyersburg and i dont trust none of them.

Strange because I think it's protocol to get the chest pain patients back within a matter of minutes...I'm not positive but I think it's 15 minutes.

And alot of the people who go to the ER for none emergencies (outside of the ones looking for pills) are people who don't have any insurance...I mean it's a big problem but some people have no choice. I go to the walk in clinic myself because I don't have insurance and they aren't TOO high but if I couldnt get in and I was genuinely sick I guess I'd have to go to the ER too..:(

The funny thing is you can go to any town/city and their locals are complaining about the same things at their hospital. You would be surprised at the ppl from surrounding towns that come to Dyersburg for treatments just like Dyer Co. residents travel to Jackson or UC. Crazy but true.

There is a nurse shortage nationwide so you can't really blame the nurses for being overloaded with work. Same is true of the ER wait times. Haven't you heard on the news and read in the papers of other ER's in large cities having the same problem and even longer waits with patients actually dying while waiting? I think the responsibility lies with whomever is in charge of running things at a hospital. The doctors and nurses would have to follow their rules, wouldn't they? I also agree and have seen firsthand, on many occasions, all of the "emergency" patients walking around smoking as you try to enter the ER door complaining about how long it's taking to be seen.
