Had one years ago, I think it was in southtown, raced slot cars there. They didn't stay in business long. I am sure a lot of ppl here would like to have one but with the economy in the shape it's in and everywhere laying off, I personally would wait til things picked up before I tried to open a new business. Demographics here are horrible too. If you do decide to open one, I wish you the best of luck and I will definitely bring my son :)

I think if you open one you need to have a indoors and outdoor track and hold races on a weekly base,s

We had a hobby shop before- Tom' Backyard Hobbies. He had a lot of R/C stuff but also had trains and models. His business did well but he was very ill and the store eventually had to close because of it.

I would love to have a local hobby shop again. Right now, i have to drive all the way to Jackson. If you stock e-flite helicopter parts, you've got my business! I go through plenty of them!

That would be wonderful! We have many rc trucks and I have to go to Jackson once a week to get parts, gas ect..At one time I thought about opening one. We also need an RC track her, we go to Milian just to run them!

My son and myself both have Rock Crawlers and would love to see a local shop. We spend lots of time online spending money. I would rather spend 10% more and be able to lay hands on the parts and ask questions etc.

I totally agree about the holding races and stuff too. We have gone a long ways out of town to play on indoor rock crawling courses. They can be built easily and real cheap too.

I have no problem paying a $5 entry fee to compete for bragging rights or a trophy or just something free from the store.

I am still thinking about this. There is a place to
put a track at the Dixie youth ball park by the rc
air field. Just need to be built.Insurance is the other problem. And 12 replies isn't a lot of interest.

i was very interested in gettin into the stadium truck racing last year but never did. Really dont want a hobby where i have to drive to jackson everytime i need something. I was looking into maybe racing the Slasher trucks. Bought a magazine and read about them but that was as far as i went with it. I would really like to see a hobby shop in Dyersburg. I would like to also see a good selection of model cars and trucks that you have to paint and put together. I did alot of that when i was younger but now they no longer sale them at walmart so they are much harder too find. Hobby Shop in Dyersurg??? GREAT IDEA!!

I think for a hobby shop to survive in D'Burg you will need to be very selective in your inventory. You can spend a lot of money stocking items that just wont by sold. Focus on cars, trucks and some ariplanes. Don't worry about heli's and boats, too expensive and you can order if there is interest. And I would not rely on it for you sole income, open on weekends and maybe some through out the week. There is interest but once the initial rush is over after the opening it might be slim pickings.
I would love for there to be a hobby shop, hope you do it. You ever go to the flying field?

I like rc cars & trucks in addition to the helicopters. If there was a local shop and track here, i would definitely get more into the hobby and you would have my full support! The rockcrawlers are starting to fascinate me! The only reason i haven't gotten into cars and trucks yet is that i have nowhere to drive them. But a heli I can fly wherever there is some open airspace.

I have found a place for a shop and track working
on deal right now. Just out side of the city.
