And what is YOUR tax rate?

To you Linda. To use your own words. "Post the link to prove it."
Hey, NT. No, I don't believe I outed you because I wouldn't know what to out you for. It's another of the loon from Camden lies. You shouldn't worry too much about her. That permanent cut was signed into law by Barack Obama...a nominal Democrat.

Pete, I have never understood the left definition of "fair share" It seems to me that a "fair share" should be an equal share, at most. But I would add that it should depend on the services you get for that "fair share". I would venture that the "super wealthy" that Linda complains about actually use fewer services that those unfortunate poor. Look at police and fire. It has always seemed to me that there are more police cars in the projects than in the upscale neighborhoods. And I know that I see more fire stations and have witnessed more fire calls in those neighborhoods as well. We can even take it to reality shows if you want. How many episodes of "Cops" focus on upscale neighborhood settings? LOL

Anyway it seems that the ones who pay the least, or get paid by the Government, use the most services, especially emergency services.

When Walmart came into the town I live in, there were three grocery stores, two independent pharmacies, four gas stations, and two hardware stores. Two of the grocery stores – national chains, by the way, have closed. Why? Their prices on similar canned and boxed goods were significantly higher, so now everyone shops at Walmart.
The hardware stores have not been affected much, and not only have the independent pharmacies prospered, but Walgreens put in a store directly across the street from Walmart.
The independent gas stations have also not been affected much. One went out of business, but it was because the guy didn’t pay his taxes, the biggest one added one of the only sandwich shops in town, and the others added non-ethanol gas, which attracts anyone those who know that ethanol destroys lawn mower, motorcycle, and atv engines.
Indeed, only the national chains could not figure out how to compete. Everyone else came up with something to set themselves apart.
Now, I won't say that no one got hurt by the addition of Walmart, but those that went out, didn't deserve to continue. The ability to open your own business IS a right. Becoming successful and staying in business is NOT a right.
"two of the grocery stores ....have closed.....so now everyone shops at Walmart" "the hardware stores have not been affected much" "the independant gas stations also have not been affected much" "One went out of business".
Interesting ! Keep shilling for Wal-mart, I'm quite sure they appreciate your efforts.
I will continue to trade with those who know me by name, appreciate my business, and support this community as long as they still exist. I have never seen a town business district that was the same once Wal-mart moved in, and once the competition is completely destroyed, those "low prices" have a way of slowly rising. Unfortunately the wages they pay employees have a way of staying the same.

Since I do most of my shopping on the road, I would starve if they had to know me by name to get my money. Also I can only find enough space to park a truck in the larger chain store lots. Now many people I know, work at the local walmart, so I guess you could say that they know me by name. Right? LOL

Can you hear me now? The National Security Agency (NSA) has been collecting telephone records of millions of Verizon customers – right down to local call data – under a top-secret court order issued in April, Britain’s The Guardian newspaper reported late Wednesday.
Under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) order, the Guardian reported, Verizon Business Services must provide the NSA “on an ongoing daily basis” with information from calls between the U.S. and overseas – but also with calls entirely inside the United States. Calls made entirely overseas were not affected. It was unclear whether phones in other Verizon divisions -- its regular cell phone operations, for instance -- were similarly targeted.
The order, issued April 25 and valid through July 19, requires Verizon to turn over the numbers of both parties, location data, call duration, and other information – though not the contents of the calls.
Judge Roger Vinson’s order relies on Section 215 of the PATRIOT Act. That part of the law, also known as the “business records provision,” permits FBI agents to seek a court order for “any tangible things (including books, records, papers, documents, and other items)” it deems relevant to an investigation.
Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon, who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, has repeatedly sounded the alarm about the way the government interprets that provision — though he is sharply limited in what he can say about classified information. Wyden and Democratic Sen. Mark Udall of Colorado, another committee member, wrote a scathing letter to Attorney General Eric Holder in Sept. 2011 warning that Americans would be “stunned” if they learned what the government was doing.

Just for reference:

"For one thing, under an Obama presidency, Americans will be able to leave behind the era of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and "wiretaps without warrants," he said.

If HCA and other corporations who get most of their money from medicare and medicaid have a strong government over sight and regulate CEO pay. After all it was gov money that was spent. If the gov funds it ,then the people should review pay scales. This 47 mil annual CEO pay comes out of the people pocket.

"You can't understand Twenty-first-Century Politics with an Eighteenth-Century Brain."
~ George Lakoff ~
Lesseee. I've heard of that name Lakoff, rhymes with ja..off.

By George I've got it!

This is the guy who wrote the Democrat playbook. Fashioned after Chairman Mao’s “Little Red Book”, Lakoff called it “The Little Blue Book: The Essential Guide to Thinking and Talking Democratic”.

“George Lakoff is the progressive movement’s Jedi master of language. The Little Blue Book tells us how to say what we need to say to bring about the policy changes Americans need.– Van Jones.

I’ve always learned a lot from George Lakoff and you will too.– George Soros.

The 10 Most Important Things Democrats Should Know

all politics is moral, and morality trumps policy.

Talk about the moral bases of your policy positions openly and regularly.

Facts have no meaning outside of frames, metaphors, and moral narratives. Always discuss facts within moral frames, because people do not reason outside of those moral frames.

Don't repeat conservative language or ideas, even when arguing against them.

For instance, it doesn’t matter that Republicans have been arguing that a baby is a baby, whether it is in the womb or not, for decades. Today, you will rarely hear someone who is in favor of abortion refer to the baby as anything but a “fetus.” They typically use the words “reproductive rights” or “a woman’s right to choose” to re-frame the debate from whether a baby is being killed to whether a woman has “reproductive rights,” never responding to the argument that a baby is involved.

Conservatives maintain that hanging labels doesn’t change the intrinsic nature of what is being labeled. If you take a can of beans, peel off its label and replace it with a label that says “Cherries,” it doesn’t mean the contents of the can suddenly transforms into cherries; it remains beans, regardless of what the label says.

But Lakoff says, throughout The Little Blue Book, that when you slap a new label — or euphemism, or “conceptual metaphor” or “moral frame” or whatever you want to call it — on an idea, that this somehow transforms the idea itself and people’s opinions about it.

“I don’t like new taxes,” says Average Joe.

“These aren’t taxes — they’re a Deficit Reduction Bonanza!” Lakoff would say.

“A Deficit Reduction Bonanza? Why didn’t you say so earlier? Sounds great! Where do I sign up?”

Democrats - the party of the stupid.

Odd that someone who promotes progressive policies wants to go back to Mayberry times.

But your post lies. I said that the two grocery stores that closed were also large chains, not mom and pop operations.

And I said the gas station that closed was because he didn't pay his taxes.

OT often ignores painful facts. The Walmart and Loews and Home Depot in my small town have provided jobs, a large tax base and have not caused the closure of any small businesses. They adapted to a smaller profit margin .

Let me be blunt, D. You claim to be a combat veteran, maybe you are and maybe you aren't. I don't really care what you believe about me and I'm sure you don't care what I believe about you. I have given my rank, my service and my 2 honorable discharges. Be advised that is about all the personal info I care to put on the Internet. You TEApublican Nazis make Socialism look GOOOD! You'll turn more U.S. Residents to Socialism than anybody else has done in our history!
