Sure, you might live after the apocalypse...but you're sure not living before it.
How much laughter and joy can someone enjoy if they're constantly worried about "surviving the big one?"
You can have it, I choose to enjoy life now.

Judged: 3 1 1 I agree, MA. I'm a "worrier" by nature, but I also know how to just accept the things I cannot change...after I've exhausted every possible way of changing them. Also, I believe One has to have an equal amount of fun & laughter to balance out the "worry', which I think is exactly what you said...that's where I heard it. Lol! You should feel Special...you & your Post is the first One in several days that made me want to post any thought of mine. Lol. I didn't want to talk to very many People on here...& you're the first one & One of the few.:+) |

Judged: 1 1 1 Yes "MA" there will be a lot of disappointed folks if things work out okay. This apocalypse is coming thing has been going on forever. The end is being predicted in Churches across the Country every Sunday. The preacher will get into Revelations, read a few verses and predict the Bible is fulfilling itself and the end is near. Then we have the folks who get an idea in their head and can't shake it. Remember Y2K ?...well a lot of food, guns and ammo, fuel, cash, coin, water etc. was stored to protect certain people from the end of civilization as we know it....since computers could not recognize 2000 as the year. Further back was the silly notion that kids in a school room could survive a nuclear blast by getting under their desks. I have been reading a lot of information on the Great Depression, and everything that was old is new again. It seems that the Republicans who opposed everything Roosevelt did to help the poor and the working class during the dirty thirties criticized him using nearly the same rhetoric then they are now, and predicted a financial disaster as a result. They wouldn't mention the name of the man who preceeded Roosevelt either !! Sound familiar ? Predicting the apocalypse is a sort of cottage industry here in the USA but, I look at it this way, IF any of those sinners in the benches repent as a result, well it is worth it ! IF any of those wealthy folks spend a great deal storing up for the disaster, they are spurring economic activity, creating demand for goods and God knows how badly we need that ! The only drawback that I can see is having to read about "the end" over and over here on Topix....and I can live with that. |

Judged: 1 1 1 That's wonderful! "I believe One has to have an equal amount of fun & laughter to balance out the "worry", Sassy...you will no doubt stop worrying 'after' the election and Obama is another page in history books. The chapter may be titled "The one term wonder" as they analyze why Americans voted for an inept community organizer (who thought the Muslim call to prayer was Beautiful"). |

Judged: 1 1 1 it states in the bible only ''he'' knows no one else. you are not suppose to worry about it you are to live each day like it is your last. |

|
Judged: 1 1 1 id call it a "full on" industry. they have been selling the end of the world as long as there has been one. just the fact that the human life span has always been well under a century long, makes the turn of the century a stressful event for the fervently religious. |
|
you cant possibly survive in our society, be sucessful, and live EVERY afternoon and night, like it were your last. if everybody did that every day??? this society would come to a grinding halt!! I agree you shouldnt worry too much about what comes next, as it is beyond our control. |
|
bush said some nice things about muslims as well. that is was a religion "of peace" I guess you were out that day. |

in a sense you are right..... in every other sense, you are totally wrong. the republicans and democrats do represent left and right wing of the business party..... but why is all that wall st money(baaaaaaaa!!) flowing back to the republicans??? mabey because the republicans plan to stimulate the economy is just to give out more tax breaks to the rich!!!???? this sounds attractive to the banksters on wall st.... as opposed to the democratic plan to get the economy moving with direct capital injection into the markets by way of the middle class. sparking demand is the only way for the "wealthy job creators" to hire more people to replace inventories!! if you give those wealthy "job creators" a huge tax break??? what does that do to stimulate demand??? that arent going to hire on more poeple, to increase inventories, that are already overstocked??? increasing DEMAND is the only way to influence job creation..... |

Are you serious??? you have a plan to loot your community?? wow what a upstanding citizen you are!! that is one part of my emergency plan that I skipped!! and it makes me realize, you are not that mature. if you are that concerned with an apocolyse?? why do you live ANYWHERE near a major metropolitain area?? if you are prepared than youd be like me. I live hundreds of miles from any major metropolitain area (even thouugh I grew up right next to a big one) with a good water source and decent weather in the winter. what do you have??? flat land(no high ground)or do you live on a river bluff?? isnt it like minus 30 there in the winter??? these things matter.....I have a clear shot at the highway and 1000 feet of dirt road... before my gate. can you describe your scene?? |

Judged: 3 3 3 Redistribution of Wealth 101 Bells Rings!: Welcome to class; first you must understand that creating "government jobs" is not really job creation, it is simply another way to "spend collected tax dollars". Further more; creating more "government jobs" creates more incentive to raise taxes. I believe I know how to spend my earnings better than a massive government "Bureaucracy"...don' t you? http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2009... |

Judged: 1 1 1 ---------- Are U really from Utah, as your user ID says? Then that explains it all. Pretty backwards place (in thinking... in my opinion/been there.) Beautiful place yes...but many migrated/exiled there voluntarily, because of many of your States cockeyed beliefs. i.e. When Joseph Smith, Jr., founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his brother Hyrum were assassinated at Carthage, Illinois, in June 1844, Brigham Young and other Mormon leaders decided to abandon Nauvoo, Illinois, and move west. Their exodus began February 4, 1846. With the outbreak of the Mexican War, President James Knox Polk asked the Mormons for a battalion of men. Volunteers were recruited and the Mormon Battalion formed. During their famous march of 1846-1847 from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, to San Diego, California, they forged a wagon route across the extreme Southwest. Their pay and their later explorations helped the pioneer settlers. In April 1847 the pioneer company of Mormons was on its way from Winter Quarters, Nebraska, to Utah. The reports of Fremont and conversations with Father De Smet, a Jesuit missionary to the Indians, helped to influence their choice to head for the Great Basin. An advance party, including three African-Americans, entered Salt Lake Valley July 22, 1847, and the rest of the company on July 24. Planting and irrigating as well as exploration of the surrounding area began immediately. Although the struggle for survival was difficult in the first years of settlement, the Mormons were better equipped by experience than many other groups to tame the harsh land. They had pioneered other settlements in the Midwest, and their communal religious faith underscored the necessity of cooperative effort. Basic industries developed rapidly, the city was laid out, and building began. Natural resources, including timber and water, were regarded as community property; and the church organization served as the first government. Settlement of outlying areas began as soon as possible. Bountiful, Farmington, Ogden, Tooele, Provo, and Manti were settled by 1850. Immigration had swelled the population to 11,380, half of whom were farm families. The typical family of 1850 consisted of two parents in their 20s or early 30s and three children. A leader was generally chosen by church authorities to head each settlement, and others were selected to provide basic skills for the new community. Small settlements were frequently forts with log cabins arranged in a protective square. Wagon train Between 1847 and 1900 the Mormons founded about 500 settlements in Utah and neighboring states. At the same time, missionaries traveled worldwide, and thousands of religious converts from many cultural backgrounds made the long journey from their homelands to Utah via boat, rail, wagon train, and handcart. The Mormon village in Utah was to a degree patterned after Joseph Smith's City of Zion, a planned community of farmers and tradesmen, with a central residential area and farms and farm buildings on the land beyond. Life in these villages centered on the day's work and church activities. Educational facilities developed slowly. Music, dance, and drama were favorite group activities. Benny |
