Let's hear both sides. Can you prove there is or is not a God?

If you do not believe a proposition which has no historical evidence, it is not up to you to disprove it. The burden of proof is on the person making unsubstantiated claims.

Exactly. Its not up to me to prove that god ISN'T real. You have to prove that god IS real. If I told you that I was Superman, you would tell me to prove that I was indeed Superman. Telling you to prove that I wasn't is an ass backwards approach to it.

Oh, and saying that an ancient book is proof of god is a bunch of bologna.

Could the bible be the greatest fictional book ever written? A book written by so many authors over a period of 1600 years couldn't be totally accurate.

Considering that the book was supposedly written by "god", at what point did "god" give up writing and due to the fact that most of the people of that time could neither read or write, should he have considered a better form of communication? And by the way, can you show historical proof for any of it?

So many questions that can not be answered precisely so my next question is this. Why do Christians try to shove Christianity down everyone's throats when they can't backup anything they are saying other than "possibly fictional " words from a book that cannot be accurate.

The bible is just a book unless you know how to read between the lines. The true word of god is the best kept secret in the world. They give you a book marked with a number 1611 i think yet you do not think that maybe that is the number of the beast. The. only people getting into heaven are the ones who know the word people like the freemasons have tricked you into believing your bible is the word so when the creators return only the enlightened will be allowed to go.

so man came up with baptizing or did god? and the bible was written. its sad that one day you will know the truth. god has always been there. we are human and don't understand but may he have mercy on your souls. there are people who used to be atheist and are now Christians. look on youtube maybe you can learn what they did. a day in hell might help you understand.

Can't be proven one way or the other, but logic and common sense proves to me that there is no God. Until the believers prove otherwise that's enough for me and yes the burden of proof (as someone said) is on them.

By the way I am an Atheist. I have also been asking this question of the believers for over 50 years and they have yet to give me an answer that backs up their claim.

The only answer they give is the same old crap... read the Bible, you have got to have faith or just believe... in other words... nothing. Why? Because they have nothing.

Man came up with god and baptizing. You are basing your beliefs on the ramblings of ancient sheep herders.

God can speak directly to your soul he does not need a book. the book is a tool that uses fear to contrôle you. god is about love i do not fit in amoung you for i believe in a higher power but believe jesus is not the savior. God is not how you think he is but all will know soon enough.

Why would a god who wanted to communicate its message to mankind hide it "between the lines"? That would be counter-productive. Sounds like the god you believe in is kinda dumb.

But you have magical powers or a special decoder ring that enables you to figure it all out, don't cha?

There are also people on YouTube who used to be christians before they grew some sense and stopped having imaginary friends. Someone's personal testimony about how they found the Jebus when they probably weren't too bright in the first place isn't very convincing.

So god's been wooing you with wondrous feats of prestidigitation but he can't seem to conjure up a simple bologna sandwich for some starving kid in Ethiopia? Or stop some preacher from molesting a child? I don't know which is more profound with you nut-jobs; your arrogance or your ignorance.

The only thing Baptists love more than money is themselves.

Because you don't have anything worthwhile to argue with.

What am I supposed to be saved from exactly? Oh, that's right, the very thing that's supposed to have condemned me in the first place - the childish anger of your imaginary friend.

LOL ... "will pray for you" is christianese for "F___ You".
