It's obvious that if the mall doors are open with half the stores operating,..... and mall employees getting paid and the dumbass mall manager still employed..... then the rent is obviously entirely to high for low end stores to come in. It's all management.

One problem with our mall is that the people ion this town do not hve enough money to spend to suppot it. To get a frnchise like Hot Topic or Victoria Secret you have to be able to prove that your town can support it and you have to have a lot of money to put up to buy these franchises.
I know this city is capable of spending lots of money, our state isn't bankrupt like Michigan and several other states. Businesses actually want to move here and our leaders are so scared of growing they will stop at nothing to keep us small. Just look at Shogun's and Java Cafe. We sure as hell didn't get a Benihanas and Starbucks.

I hate the Dyersburg Mall. It's the worst mall ever. Most of all the store that really needs to be moved out is that crappy run down Redneck store. The guy that owns that place is a RACIST i seen him tell a black customer to leave his store or he would call security on them. It's a shame that someone would turn away business over the color of someone's skin. What the Dyersburg Mall needs is someone to take over and get stores out they does not bring people in like the Redneck store and the photography place. Why would you put a photography place in the mall? Nobody is going to take pictures in the mall. But i really think that the mall is a terrible place to shop and they should bring in more places or shut down. But they need to close the Redneck store down anyway because it does not get any business from what i have seen. Besides when you walk in there to shop you can't get help because the owner is sitting on his butt watching tv. What great customer service from him he needs to close the door on that junky place. But the Dyersburg Mall is in bad shape for any business.

If we had Target, Cracker Barrell, TGI Fridays, Super K-mart, Old Navy, Rue 21, and all the other fine stores Jackson has, U ppl would still find somethin to complain about... If u want to place blame, blame the mayor and alderman...Its that simple.

Why tear down the mall? Add a Target on to the mall. In the town I grew up in, the mall was losing businesses until the Target was added on to the mall, now it thrives, because it increased the number of shoppers. It worked for that town and the population is about the same.

I would love to have a target here and a K mart I wouldnt go to walmart. I buy all I can now at Kroger and when I go to Jackson. This is the worse walmart I have ever seen. And a lot of people are forsed to shop there because they cannot go out of town. We need to call the mayor to do something now!!!!

I totally agree about the mall. Why would you go to Hibbet Sports or Sports Addition to pay twice as much for shoes you can get in a Jackson or Memphis chain cheaper? The only store really worth shopping is is JC Penny and they never have the sizes I need for my kids. Then they wonder why no one SHOPS LOCALLY in DYERSBURG.

Am I the only one curious as to why we don't even have a truck stop? There's plenty of trucks that come thru here and many OTR drivers that live here, so why don't they have a place for them.

the prices at hibbett and sports additions are set thru their home office. the prices are the same company wide no matter what city you go to.

I thought all store chains had that same policy, but you can go to Wolfchase Mall in Memphis and get the same shoes for half the price.....true it may be a different chain of stores, but cheaper nevertheless..........

I've even noticed that the local Family Dollars Stores will have the same things on clearance but will be priced different. Why is that?

the mall was best when i was little. I loved the halloween/magic store brian staron had. it had masks, costumes and all kinds of stuff. the music store that was there next to the popcorn place was cool too. but i guess hastings made it leave cuz of competition. i don't know what happened to make it so boring and dull now. my friend and I went there the other day on a saturday afternoon...there was almost NOBODY there. on a freakin saturday...jeez. it was quiet, boring. we didn't stay there long cuz just going to the mall is just not exciting anymore. not here anyway.
remeber taco casa, was it called the sound shop?, i remember the novelty store too, they had kb toy store or toys r us?, and the fun tunnell was always packed with kids...it was fun back then

I agree. I worked at Taco Casa..I miss those days.
Makes me sad to see how empty it is now. Back in the day, it was the high school hangout. Those Sat nights hanging with friends was so much fun!

If you haven't figured it out, it is a write off for a conglamaration of partners and after a certain period of time, and they have run their limits on taking loses, they sell to someone else, who in turns, does the same...mushroom effect..although, got to admit, contrere to a previous post, the mangement does have hands on contact with the tenants and her attitude is really pithitic...best thing could happen is to have someone purchase the entire bldg and either re-structure the format or bring it down and build something useful on that property...chances of that happening are probably slim and none...

Old Navy was in town several days looking to open up in the old Goodys spot. They didn't because the traffic count at the mall wasn't high enough. Go figure! There's not going to be a high traffic count until something comes in to draw a crowd!
