The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that killed one person and sent two more to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

The wreck occurred in a field between Highway 51 and the west end of Rogers Road in Dyer County around 3:30 p.m. According to THP Sgt. Carl Jones, the driver of a Toyota Corolla was headed northbound on Highway 51 when she careened off of the highway and did a counterclockwise turn through a field and ultimately struck a ditch in a treeline.

Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box stated a call came into Dyer County dispatch from a witness who saw the vehicle leave Highway 51. Emergency responders from the Dyer County Sheriff's Dept., Dyersburg Fire Dept. extraction team, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Ambulance Service of Dyersburg were dispatched to the scene.

Jones said a male passenger in the vehicle was killed and the driver who is a female and another female passenger were flown by Air Evac Lifeteam helicopters to the Med in Memphis, Tenn. for treatment.
Jones added the crash is still under investigation and the THP's Critical Incident Response Team would be at the scene on Wednesday to gather further evidence.

Hi everyone.
Please don't be like this. Don't make it an anger post.
Charles was a good kid, he had a bunch of great friends, and a lot of parents who cared about him and I'm so thankful for all of you and all of your prayers and kind words.
There is no nothing to gossip about here. Charles, and a very special friend (I wont name here) and his little sister went to Dyersburg to eat lunch with his Dad at Los Lomas. They stopped off and visited with their friends Mom at work. On the way back to Newbern, they swerved to miss a car and went off the road. Charles was killed instantly and both girls were hurt really bad. They are both in the hospital.
Please don't post their names, it's not worth it. Keep up your prayers for all of them. Our family truly appreciates you all for it.
Charles was our flame that burned out to soon.
I am so sorry for you and your family. You never know when you leave your house if you will come back. I cant even imagine what your family is going through. I know the med will tell you very bad things. But do not give up keep praying. If they ask you to turn them off do not do this right away. Only God knows for sure what will happen and prayer changes things. Keep the faith.

She is still in the hospital and will be for a few more weeks. Broken tailbone, broken vertebrae, broken wrist, broken rib, deep gash on forehead.

The funeral services for the young man are Saturday at Johnson- Williams funeral home in Newbern. Visitation is 10-12. Funeral services at 12. My child is very upset over this loss along with her other friends being hurt. I did not post this to be mean or a busy body but to make other parents aware of the arrangements so they may help their children through that day and the days ahead. This young man will be missed more than he will ever know.Prayers to his family and to the young lady whom is still in the hospital.
I think this is very decent of you. Sorry for everyone.

I surely hope and pray they do. I believe the one hurt the worst is a sister to the boy that lost his life. I know thoes parents are really going through a lot if so. And unfortunetly I was at the med a long time and I know the stress you go through there they tell you the worst things. You have to ignore them and keep beliving and praying and not give up. Its not an easy battle. But it is in Gods hands. Do you know how old these kids were? I just think they were young too and it breaks my heart to see young people get hurt so bad when they have their life ahead of them.

they were all 17-18 years old..His sister is home. The other young lady is holding her own. I agree it is terrible to hear and see all this. God hands will hands will guide them all.

I was just wondering if the school is going to do anything for his family? I know that a few other young people here have had their funerals at the school and there have been other things that people have pulled together and done. I just hope to see this kind of support for this young man and his family as well.

possibly. But they are investigating it. She has a long recovery ahead of her.No matter what happens with it she will always live with that on her. Its just a terrible situation all the way around.

What would she be charged with? I was under the impression that this was an accident.

It was an accident. But it has to be investigated. People can be charged for failing to maintain ,speeding,etc.. At this point she needs to recover. The passenger that survived needs to heal and the young mans parents have to try help their daughter and get through each day without their son. It's all a terrible tragedy no matter what happened.

It's sad that all students don't get shown the same the respect no matter the circumstances!! They should all get treated equal !! At a young age kids should not know how it feels to lose a classmate and should all be together when it happens and it is a shame that some students and their families will get shown a different kind of respect then others and it's just not right!! I am so sorry for the loss of this young mans family and friends and continue to pray for the other girls quick recovery!
