I am really concerned about the young police officers they are hiring around here. They are just people off the street. Some of them know nothing about the law yet they want to tell you the law and what you are charged for. They are not judges they do not know what or if you will be charged for anything till you go to court. The judge makes that decision. They are also not lawyers. You are innocent until proven guilty. They can take down the information for both sides and then they give you a court date if you need it and the judge will hear both sides and decide who will be charged and for what if anything. If the police could make all the decisions we wouldn’t need courts or judges and no lawyers to defend us.

The court system is nothing more than a joke. It's a money ring! I guess you can say the ones who have the power to pass judgement and punishment are just as guilty as the people who stand before them. They care nothing about the rehab that might help a person and instead of arresting the hard core criminals tehy go out look for small, petty things. They had rather drive around and arrest someone who is out in the country minding their own business or harass others who might be at the park instead of riding up and down crack alley where the dealers holler and flag you down to see what you might want. There is a problem with these little boys they are hiring. they are scared of their sheadow. they had rather bother people they aren't afraid of shooting them. We need protection from the big crimes not the small petty shit people are going to court over these days. Why don't hte judges offer these people a deal tell me where you got it and i will punish you lightly. Find out where its coming from and go from there.

to be a city-officer, now you must have a college degree. Some of the so-called kids are either kin to someone or are fresh out of the academy. I miss the good ole days with big John riding around on that damn bike. Officers were more open or publicly viewed to where now they ride around in their cars. I personally watched out my front window as an unmarked car was trying to pull over a lady just the other day. the only thing i heard was a voice thru the air saying "Pull the car over now!" Poor lady, she was cuffed, k-9 came out and 2 members of the bike patrol searched her car. Gosh- i could have caught up with her doing a power walk! Hope they didnt draw their weapons too.

there is too much serious stuff going on in dyersburg to be pulling somebody over for something as small as a passenger not wearing a seat belt. Especially if the driver is! It's also sad when you hear 2 of dyersburg's finest trying to see who can get the most arrests in a shift. they call them "cookies". Hi Lynn.

Would that be Waller?I must agree with the other statements. My friend left a halloween party with 4 kids in the car and was pulled over by him.He was very rude and disrespectful so bad he made her and the kids cry.He was trying to show his authority and a real smart a@@.He might do that to a woman with kids, but let some drug dealer thug go by and he would put his tail between his legs and lower his head as though he didnt see nothing.A bunch of smart a@@ chicken sh@ts if you ask me.The bad thing about it is none of the 4 kids had ever seen that side of a cop before and 2 weeks later they are still talking about that mean cop.The kids are are from 11 to 6yrs. and will remeber it for awhile. They look for him everytime they see a cop car.

I am very disappointed with our police department. They seem to be for the criminals. And like you said they dont try to get the dope heads. There are people going down the street in public drinking and they do nothing about it. Yet I know a guy that was drinking a pepsi aand they asked him if it was a beer and were ready to arrest him. And yet I see the same people doing this day after day they must be snitches. I sure do not understand the judicial system.

you people have alot of nerve to bash the people tryin to keep us safe it is wrong and if it wasnt for them then where would we be.. they do their job and if they get rude with people maybe its because someone gets rude with them. if you think you could make the police department better than do it and stop bashin them and bashin them for doin their job young or old rather they have been on the force for a week or years it doesnt matter they have to start somewhere and do what they have to do to keep us safe. if it wasnt for all the dope head gang bangers and idiots we may not need so many cops.

Maybe if they where doing their job instead of haveing their tail between there legs there wouldnt be so many dope heads, gang banger, and idiots on the street for us to need a cop.But no some had rather pick on women and kids than thugs.Im sorry for the good cops to be put down for a few bad ones, but iv seen this first hand.

I personally believe that at age 22 or 23 most men are still immature to be out on the street without direct supervision. Too many get so wrapped up in having a little power that they do abuse it.

No one is bashing the police as a whole. We are talking about young cops that just aren't ready for the responsibility that their job is made of. Neither are we talking about ALL of the young ones, just some.

We just wish they would do thier jobs. They applied not I, however I would rather handle it myself and I would not be winning to do so, but they wont let youo take the law in your own hands. znow how can you handle it yourself.

What terrible language to use to take up for the police you are the ones that they have to be called to. Good respectable people dont need them.

I use to have the most respect for the police until I learned better. They are just men and women like you and me. Someone once said they put on thier pants the same way one leg at a time. You see you have to earn respect. The police drink, cheat on thier wives(some while they are on duty) and some even do drugs. They let the people go that they want to and take others in. They tend to let thier snitches go which I do not feel is right. Let me tell you just because they wear the badge they are not angels. Most of the time if you do call them they are for the criminals and give them advice on how to screw you right in front of you. Most of the time in Dyer County it is who you know not what you have done. I honestly did have respect for the police that is the way I was taught. But they have to earn thier respect it is not something that is just given to someone. They are not above the law. There are professionals that get in trouble all the time. They are no different. And these tings with thepolice department have been going on for a long time it didnt just start. People in Dyersburg need to wake up!!

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Scorpio

A loved one is extremely upset today, and you'll soon know all about it. Things are out of proportion, so a minor hitch becomes a huge drama that means you've got to drop everything in order to calm them down. Hey ho. At least it won't last long. If you're doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, you won't have as much patience as usual and nor will anyone else.
