Tell me what you folks think about the fact that GC didn't post the lady pioneer head coaching job they just gave it to Michael Hart. He didn't have winning seasons with the boys WHY did they do this to our girls?

I agree. There would have been plenty of big names willing to interview. Great program. $12,000 supplement. The girls program is done just like the male athletics. Want proof. Just look at the way Hart ran the k-5 league. No rules. No refs. Kids learned nothing.

Apparently you have no clue as to how the K-5 league was ran. I coached a team in the K-5 league and it was a GREAT opportunity for the kids of Gibson Co. to play basketball and learn basketball. The league couldnt of been ran better by Coach Hart, very professional!! Coaches meetings, clear rules were handed out, refs were during the tournament, coaches had practices during the week in which they were responsible for teaching the kids specific skills that Coach Hart outlined at the coaches meeting. Sounds like a disgruntled parent whos kids team didnt win... lol. What a great guy and coach. I believe him winning 20 games in 2 years with a very outmatched team is a big accomplishment. Hope he does well with the girls and I believe he will. If you cant be supportive of peoples efforts for the kids you shouldnt be posting..

My kid participated in the league and I'll say this. Allowing 2nd and 3rd graders to foul, double dribbe etc. without stopping the game and correcting the infraction is not a benefit to the kids or Coach Hart. Many times I saw players run with the ball. I wasn't impressed with the league either, sorry. The boys program has rarely been good. Don't blame him for wanting to switch, and he has girls. I hope he does well. Best of luck to him.

Just don't understand why the job wasn't posted, why they didn't see who was interested? I mean we go from Russell, McMillan to Hart? Nothing against Coach Hart, but you have to admit no one would put him in their category. I don't buy that the boys program has made any improvement. I mean where is that program going. How did he leave it better off? They weren't real competitive in a down league. I'm just sick of boy's athletics at Gibson Co. When have they ever been good. How could you say any coach has done well with them. Are we saying below .500 every year is good?

Coach Hart is a very good man and is a "professional athlete" with deep experience at that level. His credentials are far superior than many other coaches and he has great connections with colleges. Quit hating on someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Also Guest, posting someone's personal information like that is very low and especially when it is someone who has brought nothing but great energy to this region. What were you hoping to accomplish by doing this? If it is true that is no one's business but that young lady. If it is not you are guilty, and I mean legally, of slander. Classy!

Guest, personally knowing Heather and Magan i think you need to shut your mouth and stop with false accusations, i know why you didnt post your name, it is because you know they will not stand for this. Heather has done not one thing exect help bring the team to two back 2 back state championships. I have been around both of them and around both of them together. and im not real sure where you get off accusing them of this. they have never given any reason for anybody to believe they are more than good friends and former teammates. and if you cant accept that then lets plaster false accusations about you on the internet and see how your life gets screwed around. O and yes that is my real name.

Who cares about credentials. What about results? Explain to me how GCHS boys have shown any under Harshaw or Hart? I think he's a great guy, but playing ball and coaching it are two very different things.

From what I know his Resume boasted results of over 300 wins as a coach and over 400 wins as a player 10 yrs overseas. Pretty good credentials to me, heard the girls had a very good summer, hope they keep it up.

The above looks good. But doesn't answer the question about how have GC boys shown improvement? They have less than 15 kids playing this year, that's a reflection on previous coaches. The new coach has a heck of an uphill battle ahead of him.

I'm sure she didn't hate it too much, she got her 2 state championship rings, lol. She did quit UT-Martin. I'm sure McMillan hated to lose her, but he still has an AWESOME team ready to go next year. UT-Martin will be in the NCAA womens basketball tournament next year, book it.

Get real folks. Even if a job is posted, they already have it filled. The GOOD OLE BOY program is alive and well at Gibson County. Have tried for jobs posted and never even get a call. Find out that so in so's brother or some person from another county already has the job. It is time Gibson County people are hired for Gibson County jobs. Wonder how many of the many teachers at South Gibson are actually from Gibson County? They should have to help pay for the super's grandkid's school too. He got their school built, lives in Dyer County, and now he is retiring. Who would have thought it?
