Heard that Dyer once had a coach who was not afraid to stand his ground, cant remember his name but he was there when Young was Principal.

Here are the facts:

1. The only coach that will be coming back next year is the softball coach

2. The boys basketball coach may or may not be back.

3. Parents are upset in every sport. Players are quitting sports and a lot of talk about transferring or moving to other schools.

4. All teachers near retirement are wanting out. When your experienced teachers jump ship it's sinking like the Titanic.

5. The news media is camped out at the school about the prom dress and no one from the administration is willing to talk to them.

6. There are at least three pending lawsuits regarding school administrators that are going to make waves unless the school board washes them under the rug.

7. At least one of the new administrators is looking to bail at the end of the year or get transferred to another school in the district.

8. Several sports teams are way down in participation

9. Very few quality teachers and coaches are willing to consider taking a chance on GCHS.

10. The school administration has some serious public relations problems and have no clue about how to work with employees, parents, or the public.

Have I left anything out?
Oh Yes

The feeder schools have the same problems, just not talked about.

Let me just say he's doing a real bang up job at PR. He's stepped a## deep in sh## now and will probably be looking for another job next year. Maybe Dixie Outfitters would consider hiring him.

I heard a nasty rumor today at the golf course that Mr. Miracle who has two years teaching experience and is wrapping up his second year as assistant principal is going to become the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the district. I can't imagine there are many teachers in the system who think this is an appropriate appointment. Typically this position is held by the senior most respected member of the district with the appropriate degrees and certification. There will be a lot of people scratching their heads if this rumor proves to be true including the man who is retiring from the position. Maybe our illustrious board member can shed some light on this curious move?

Only in Dyer would someone allow this sort of thing to happen. The number three position in the county should be held by someone with at least 15 to 20 years of teaching experience, not some rookie with an advanced degree. Practical knowledge is much more preferable to a Doctorate in Education.

Who is leaving in the District office then? And you act like this has never happened before. Michelle Goad was not in a teaching position very long and now she is the Instructional Supervisor 5-8 & Data/Testing Coordinator.

GC system seems to be much like other corporations and the military. Find a young pup; feed him(her) enough bull and then move up the ladder as quickly as possible? If I were an experienced teacher, I would fight this to the end of TCAP.**LOL** A person with less that 10 years experience should not be supervising anything or telling another teacher how it's to be done. And then on top of that, they are the ones "evaluating" classroom teachers? Egads!!

So very true! The one huge difference is that the military has a tradition of hiring college graduates to 'manage' the soldiers and assets but it is still experienced NCO's who lead them into combat and carry out the orders given by the officers. Young LT's and Captains are expected to lean on the experienced NCO's for advice and strategy. In the educational environment, the tradition is to use the most experienced teachers to mentor the younger teachers. The young assistant principal needs years of classroom experience before he can evaluate other teachers much less be the #3 person in the school district. I ask you, what would it hurt to have him serve out a few more years as assistant principal before considering him for a promotion?

Can someone please say if one of the administration at GCHS is in a lawsuit brought by a student?

I think the taxpayers have a right to know.
