So thanks for nothing on another winless football season. This year was worse than the last four. So please take your toys and go back to Obion County.

OK u r right in some ways but wrong in others. First off it can't be worse because there is nothing worse than not winning any games.GC has not won a game in four and a half years! Nothing is worse than that in one year! Sounds like you do not like Coach Cruz or wanted someelse to be Head Coach. It would have been the same results no matter who was there. Second off I have never met Coach Cruz. I heard a lot of good things about his Coaching style. I have been told by people who do know the game of football that if Coach Cruz is given a chance,4 to 5 years he will turn this football program around. Unlike a lot of coaches he has a teaching style of coaching and does not mind explaining himself. Yes everything dropping down to a lower class will also help. Dropping down to the rookie leagues is not a good selling point but it is what it is and maybe gc will win 2 or 3 games next year. This years mess is not Coach Cruz fault. He was hired into this mess. He needs a good junior pioneer coaching staff and more games for the jr pioneers team. He needs 2 to 3 years to teach his style to this football team. So lets give him a chance or at least 3 to 4 more years. After all g.c. pioneers have not won a game in over four and a half years under 4 different coaches. When the Band is what people come to see on Friday night because the football has no wins in almost 5 years,it can not get any worse than that!

First of all there has only been 2 head coaches not 4 as posted. Dyer was the HC for 6 years, Atkins 2, and now Cruse. GCHS has only had 1 winning record since 1984. Dropping down will help but GC did not beat the 2 smaller schools we played. It will be very tough for the next two years because of the smaller numbers in the rising senior class. The coaches will have to recruit basketballers to play FB or we will have four more years of the same. Greenfield may be the only team we can beat in West TN.

Should have hired the runner-up. He took another job and they are playing in the playoffs.

How come Gibson County has never had a winning season but you guys are all football experts? How come your football knowledge didn't help you win when you played? Or probably you never played. The real thing is a little different from watching on TV!

These are kids that play on this team and we should support them no matter what! Not run their team they worked hard for down. I find it pretty odd that "medina private school" has such a winning season and none of these star players they are getting ever were at Gibson county before the switch over! And as long as I am stating my opinion, as an alumni of gc, I liked the traditional colors for the uniforms much better than the black!

I have heard a lot of 'talking down' the old coaching staff by some on the new staff, namely the new head coach. I find it interesting that the young Coach Atkins' Halls Tigers went to the playoffs for the first time in over twenty years and defeated Gleason in the 1st round of the playoffs. Coach Bob Winston, who was the most experienced candidate for the GCHS job, is still in the playoffs in week two. The GCHS administration has made poor decisions. Hiring an inexperienced head coach is just one of many poor decisions.

This administration lets all the good coaches go in every sport! Nothing new they care nothing about athletics.

Has anyone ever thought that maybe more emphasis is placed on a person's ability to teach effectively when hiring decisions are made...? The school is there to send people to college, not the NFL.

Has anyone thought why coaches are hired? I mean really to win ball games. If were not gonna care about sports and the opportunities they give kids then why have sports? Has anyone thought that athletic scholorships give kids that would never have a chance to go to college and receive a degree that opportunity. These kids usually dont come from losing programs however!! Has anyone thought that sports keep kids outa trouble and good coaches mentor these athletes to suceed in everyday life, prob even more than most parents do. Has anyone thought to look up data that shows kids that play sports especially in good programs have higher GPA and graduation rates... Idk, maybe no ones thought of that.. Lol. But this opinion is coming from a sports buff.

All of the coaches who left our sports programs over the past 5 years have Masters Degrees in Education. The ones who replaced them did not. You decide where the 'quality' of education ranks at GCHS.

Well with all those Masters degrees you think they could have figured out how to win a ball game. What kind of degrees does Nick Saban have? Who cares! Just WIN, Baby!

They are ALL winning... just not at GCHS. That's the point.

Some believe the administration is cutting overhead by running off experienced teachers with advanced degrees.
