Read in this weeks Tri-City that Kenton has sold two abandoned factories. The first factory will be up and running by the beginning of the year. Hiring around 20 employees. And the second will be operating next year as well. Not to mention the city has someone who signed a 10 year lease on the old Simon Station to open up a food service restaurant. All these steps brought on by the city makes them now debt free. And the city will not have to raise their property taxes. All of this is great news. I love hearing some positive things coming into our area. My question is why is Dyer not on board and doing some of these things. We have an entire industiral park just sitting empty. How about our mayor go and talk with Kenton's mayor and learn something that could help us. Please. Or some of the alderman? Anyone, I'm a citizen and am tempted to go and talk with them. Come on...

The people that own the Tyson chicken farm outside Mason Hall bought Plastech and it's not directly across from the old Simon Station. It's across from Russom's car wash. The old Simon station building is going towards Union City. And I heard the guy who bought it is having problems getting the plumbing fixed so that may not be too promising.

I'm not sure where the other factory is. I didn't know anything more than Plastech sold.

The old Plastech building runs from the car wash to the old simon station restaurant. Just google map it and you will see. Still too close to be eating a meal. lol
The other factory was also part of Plastech. It was called building 2. Its the old USM building beside the Plastech building or kinda across from Reeds market.
I'm not bitching, hell anything that helps Kenton I'm all for it.
So is it true that the old Wis-Con is going to reopen?

I never said you were bitching, lol. Sorry if you took it that way. And I figured that the 2nd building was the other Plastech building, I was just unsure!! Anyways, the people from Tyson chicken farms have had a lot of inquiries about the smell and all and they assured everyone in the town that lived close to the Plastech building that the only products entering the building would already be dried so it wouldn't produce an odor. They said any wet products would be denied at the door and set back on the trucks. I think it's gonna be great for Kenton!

I haven't heard anything about Wis-Con. I was talking to someone the other day that said they had like 2 people that worked out there doing something.. I have no clue!!! But on another note, one of the factories in Trenton (not sure which one) is going to be opened back up next week. All I know is that a friend of mine put in an application at Manpower in Trenton and they called her to work this coming week on 2nd shift. She just said it was one of the factories across from the ballpark.

The factory hiring in Trenton is probably called Hobbs...They are beginning to operate on three shifts...I also heard that there was a glass factory coming into the old Kellwood building in Trenton...I just would like to know how all these surrounding towns can bring in business...But Dyer hasnt had anything in years...Each town should really be selling these Kellwood buildings...They are everywhere...

Yeah I know. They have had several people looking at the old Plastech building since it was put up for taxes. I never thought it would be reopening this soon though.
I guess the same thing will have to happen with the Kellwood buildings. I know there have been some people out there working on the Ben Smith building that Kellwood used (the one right by the overpass in Rutherford). I haven't heard anyone say anything about it though. I just see cars out there when I go to town some.
This area does need something though. I really could use a job! lol. But every time I go to a temp service, I never get called. I don't have any previous factory experience and I think that hurts me. It shouldn't be like that though. I had 6 years prior experience at one job. It's sad that some employers want people with diversity over workers who will stay and be valuable to them.
