For two thousand years a story has evolved about God the father, Jesus the son, and the mysterious Holy Spirit. Wars have been fought between Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims and unbelievers for centuries. Today, evangelicals use the power of the pulpit to convince the educated and uneducated alike of a myth that has grown for centuries.

HERE IS THE TRUTH:

Jesus was a man, he lived for about 30 years and died. His father was a man, not a God, his mother was pregnant when she was married and Joseph raised him as his own son even though no one except Mary knew the truth. Jesus is not the SON OF GOD; therefore, he can not be the MESSIAH promised in Isiah. No man has ever RISEN FROM THE DEAD and there is simply no evidence that Jesus, the adopted son of Joseph, a carpenter from Nazareth, rose from the dead.

The only way you can accept this basic argument is by FAITH.'FAITH alone can save you,' they will suggest, because only 'blind faith,' like a child's faith, can overcome reason and human experience in believing an unbelievable or unfathomable story.

If the story of the immaculate conception and birth and resurrection are all false, then your belief in God through Jesus is based not on faith but a lie. It makes for a nice story but that is all. The truth is there is no God, no Heaven and no Hell!

I know this will start a running debate and that's good! I want people to understand all I want is for people to think about their beliefs. There is nothing wrong with faith or religion, even if it is based on a lie. But the TRUTH is out there for anyone who has the ability to search the facts.

Let the discussion begin!

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall have everlasting life. Faith is all you need. Not science or government, or education, just faith. There is only one book worth reading and its the King James holy Bible. Jesus said it, I believe it, that settles it.

There are thousands of religions in the world and christians think they know the truth...they cant even agree on any part of the bible as shown by their many many denominations and cults. It is just more superstious nonsense. Who says Budda or Mohamid isnt the ones who have it right. Why is your particular superstition the correct one??? Im not saying there is no higher power, One thing I am 100 percent sure of is I dont know and neither do you.

KNOW God, KNOW Heaven, KNOW Hell.
You obviously don't KNOW.
How could you see the things around you and think that there is no God?

In the South you ain't never going to win this argument. Interesting comments but most folks won't even think about it. For most folks the reality is "Preacher said it, that settles it" end of debate. The South does not change much over time.

Sad Commentary

United States

#18 Jul 8, 2011
The sad commentary is this proposal seems to have came from a seminary or seminarian. When I was fresh out of college, I attended seminary for one year. I recall reading something like this in a textbook. The premise was every student had to debate theology without using scripture. Intellectual debates are much more difficult than dogmatic discussions because the average parishioner never has to wade into the philosophical water much beyond the foundational level of their faith. Even devout Christians who regularly read the scripture rarely go beyond the point suggested in this thread.

The answer requires much more time than I care to invest in this thread. It is a matter of FAITH over REASON and logic. I have found that FAITH in GOD, no matter how uncomprehending or illogical it may seem is far more preferable than living life as an agnostic.

It is a matter of FAITH over REASON and logic.........Yea, blind faith over reason and logic sounds very intelligent. Ya just might want to rethink this one.
