Think about this, Coach Cruse has less experience than any coach on the GC staff for the last two seasons except for the first year coach who graduated in 2010. i hope he learns fast.

Give Cruse a chance people! Gibson Co. can go nowhere but up. There is no need in bashing him already.

Cruse was the defensive coordinator at UCHS; I thought the paper said he was 29 though?

Cut the man some slack! I have spoken to several Union City players and coaches who all say the man is a football genius. He may be young and only have four years coaching experience but he will lead this team to victory!

I hope he keeps Coach Lownsdale, Coach Essary and gets Clayton Morris to join his staff! Give that Coaching Staff 4-5 years and they will build a winner! It will take at least 4 years! 2012 season 0 wins,to set a new GC lose record but you will see better football the last half of the season, 2013 season 1-2 wins,2014 season 5-6 wins,2015 6-8 wins, give the Coaching Staff a real chance!!

Age does not matter. Give him a chance! It will take 4-5 years to get things turned around! I hope he has Coach Lownsdale,Coach Essary and Coach Clayton Morris on his coaching staff. That would be a real good coaching staff to turn the program around! Lownsdale,Essary and Morris are ALL 3 WINNERS!

Clayton Morris is one of the finest young men from Dyer/GC! He assisted with hre Jr Pioneers and was an excellent addition to that staff. He has coaching in his blood and the reason for his only playing for a short period was the injuries he suffered while playing. He now attends UTM but does not play.

agree wrote: im wondering the same what's special about him beside he's a former player and played a year at lambuth He played two years at Lambuth and his specialty is that he connects with the players, loves the game and can motivate. Oh, and he's played in three different defensive schemes, so he knows how to utilize the talent. But hey, as I've said before, it's up to the Head Coach as to whether he gets a shot to help.

Was reading the post on this, new coach and all,and was happy till i got to the last two. Had No idea a board member's son was helping with the football team. Makes me wonder. Sounds like Dooley at UT.GC football needs a reboot just as much as UT does.Hey Vol1985, I know coaches get extra for winning, so does the same logic apply to teachers who get higher STATE scores?

for "good ol boys": Clayton only helped with the jr hi team and Im pretty certain he received no money for it; so whats your real problem with a young man doing doing something for love of the game? He has NOT assisted at the high school as far as my info goes. get over a young man trying to help for pete's sake; surely you have better things to worry about?

Was not questioning his age having to do with ability of coaching; I was just stating that I thought another article says he is 29; age doesnt matter; it's what you know and can teach.

High School coaches don't get extra for winning and yes, teachers who have high test scores get to continue their career and move up the pay ladder. Those that don't are at risk of having to find a new career. I can assure you that my being a Board member has nothing to do with Clayton being ASKED to assist with the Jr. Pioneers last year. The kid burned through several hundred dollars of gas to drive from UTM to practices and games. There are NO expectations for him to be asked to assist the team this upcoming year, but I know he sure hopes too. Heard many kids asking him tonight whether he was coming back. It's up to the Head Coach. Thanks. Oh, and Go Vols!
