Sauk Village Gets Their Cake and Eats It Too

Did anyone read the Sauk Village Newletter? Residents have been complaining for years about the parkways. Now, it seems, according to the newsletter Sauk Village sends out, they actually put it in print, basketball nets are not allowed beyond your front grass which ends on you side of the sidewalk. They further state "Nets found on the sidewlk, parkway-(the grass between the sidewalk & streets are owned by the Village) or the street will be confiscated by the police department and taken to public works. Well, Sauk Village, you have placed in writing that the parkways are OWNED BY SAUK VILLAGE, now, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THE TREE ROOTS THAT ARE ON YOUR PROPERTY THAT GO INTO THE RESIDENT'S BASEMENTS? Hmmm? You ticket people for not mowing the parkways, but, why should they, you have stated it is OWNED BY SAUK VILLAGE, you should be cutting the parkways. The driveways on SAUK VILLAGE OWNED PROPERTY should be lowered at the expense of the Village, not at the expense of the residents. You want the residents to maintain Village owned property, yet, you are saying they can't use that property as they wish, oh wait, they can, as long as you say it is OK. You want it both ways, here folks, here's property for you to maintain, if you don't --we'll ticket you, oh but by the way, you can't use the property for playing basketball over a certain point. Yes, basketball playing is a problem in the Village streets, albiet, a very small probem on only a few streets and just where do you want these kids to go? Community Center where they can only go for 2-3 hours a day, and that's only if the lady is there to open it up. Where are they supposed to play? If the kids don't move out of the streets, then call pd, but if they move, why are you making a stupid ordinace about this? What else are you going to take from these kids? Already the Community Center is inaccessable to many, think about it folks, do you want your 2, 3, 10 year old crossing Sauk Trail or Torrence to get to the community center after 4:00 pm when there is no crossing guard? Gee, then you'd all be suing over that, a kid gets killed going to community center which is closed anyway because the lady who runs it didn't show up and there were no crossing guards. WOW, get a life, if you don't want the basketball nets at the end of the driveways, than SAUK VILLAGE TAKE CARE OF THE PARKWAYS, then you have a right to ban it, OR here's a thought, WOW, create CENTRALLY located areas of the north, south, east & west side of town for these kids to play at. SV wants their cake and eat it too, they are going to get it. Sad, very very sad. First they complain about the kids having nothing to do, then the kids to something wholesome, then they complain about that too. They want you to take care of the parkway, give you a ticket if you don't, but you can't use the parkway as you wish. Give you tickets left and right for the parkway because it is your responsibility, now they are claiming it is their property, yet if the trees on "their property" invade your sewer tiles, you have to pay for it, not them.
