I empathize with the plaintiff concerning his trees, but the problems lies with the son himself for presuming he knew that the trees were not a conflict. I doubt seriously that he understands the NERC and FERC requirements for vegetation on transmission rights-of-way. He would have been better off asking to meet with a PPL representative to discuss, rather than drawing a line in the sand by stating his trees are not a problem. From PPL's perspective, they would rather get sued and have to pay out several thousand or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, than to recieve fines in the millions by NERC for compliance violations.
