Raymond J. Kizelowicz, 89, of West Newport Street, Glen Lyon, died Saturday morning at Guardian Elder Care, Sheatown section of Newport Township.
He was born in Glen Lyon on Aug. 9, 1917, a son of the late Carl and Rose (Subally) Kizelowicz. He was a graduate of Newport Township High School, Class of 1935. He was employed by Wallace Murry Corp., Scranton, for 32 years, retiring in 1976. During this tenure he served as the skilled-trades representative in local 18 of the UAW. Ray also owned and operated Ray's CafAŠ in Glen Lyon from 1949 to 1951. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, St. Adalbert's Church, Glen Lyon. Ray loved the outdoors and enjoyed mushroom picking, along with taking walks in the woods near his home. As a skilled and avid fisherman he was a longtime member and secretary of the White Eagle Sporting Club.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Regina Kizelowicz.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years of marriage, the former Josephine Meck, at home; sons, Carl Kizelowicz, Dushore; Raymond Kizelowicz, Palmetto, Fla.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., Glen Lyon, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish, St. Adalbert's Church, Glen Lyon. Interment will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
