Motorcycles TOO Loud

With this nice weather, the motorcycles are out in full force. I want to know why they can have such loud exhaust systems. If a car or truck gets a small exhaust leak they get ticketed for loud exhaust. These bikes are rattling windows when they drive by all night long and it's okay. Just don't get the double standard?

Loud enough so hopefully they get noticed and not run into / backed out in front of -

The majority of motorcycle riders are idiots they speed pass cars on the right and left pretty much just show off. I've witnessed three motorcycles ride wheelies and five pass me and I do five over the speed limit all in broad daylight. They won't learn until they are road sausage.

Then they will whine about people who pull out in front of them or in their lane because it hard to estimate because they are no where near the guidelines of speed.

I don't know Sam. I think that just as many people get backed or run into while driving cars. It seems like it happens to motorcycles more because they make the news, most likely due to higher death rate. I do believe there are responsible motorcyclists but like" Whatever" said a lot of them are not. This is a double standard also. If you report a car driving erratically the cops are all over it. Call about a motorcycle and nothing. Hell, I've seen one pop a wheelie past a cop and he got off with a warning. Proly had to scrape him off the road a week later.

In any case I still think they should have a noise limit just like any other motor vehicle.

no. The majority are conscientious riders but the idiots get the headlines (and obituaries). Just like with snowmobilers... Having worked in EMS some years ago I learned that so often the driver of a car would exclaim "the bike came out of nowhere" before a collision which we know is just not possible. Bikes are just harder to see and easier to disappear in the blind spot every car has. There are noise/muffler laws which should be enforced but a louder bike can indeed make for a safer ride. Be safe out there people!...and I have no sympathy for the morons who use public roadways for foolish stunts then end up breaking the heart of their loved ones when they die.

Enough with the bullshit loud pipes saves lives crap. You want to be safer? Try wearing something that is visible instead of the black leather jackets. Try wearing helmets that actually do as advertised instead of making you look 'badass'. Try using your fucking horn like every other vehicle on the road. Try practicing safe driving. If a car has to wait behind another car as they are making their turn, you should too. Expecting to blow past them unscathed simply because you absolutely needed to get to your destination 5 seconds sooner is asinine at best. Maintain the 3 car lengths rule instead of riding a guys bumper. You might be surprised to find you have ample time to break that way before collision. You know what, from now on when I pass by a house that has a biked parked out front, I will make as much obnoxious noise as possible because if they can do it, why can't I. Perhaps when they are annoyed by incessant noise they might be a little courteous to the rest of us. Though I kind of generalized here, I know there are riders that drive carefully and don't feel the need to be as loud as possible. Unfortunately, as already stated, that's not the riders that make the news. As a fellow rider though, maybe you should be educating the idiots that are giving you a bad name and reporting those you do see. The quicker these idiots are off the road, the quicker the stigmata about bikers disappears.

They are obnoxious. I was driving on 81, at 65 MPH, and one of those assholes pulled up and hung out in my blind spot. Then once he got bored with looking at the side of my car, he passed me (no problem) and his loud ass exhaust startled the shit out of me because I had my window open. He's lucky I didn't swerve. I've been next to a semi with all my windows and sunroof open when its tire blew out- and this was worse.

I drive 40,000 miles per year. That's a lot. Motorcyclists need to behave themselves and obey the rules of the road to survive. I've seen many more 2 wheelers causing trouble on the road than any other vehicle.

Guys on bikes who rev and roar want to be noticed and they get a false sense of power and macho. When they get home they look around and realize their power is gone so they stare at the bike to feel better. Cycles are the ultimate phallic symbol for men who can't perform in bed and love tattoos, leather, chains and crotch stimulation. The scruffy beards, beer bellies and ear studs make an old guy feel young again but Sons of Anarchy is over. Get a new life before you wipe out again!

"Rolling Coal" is idiotic, too. Wow, your truck is tuned like shit. Congratulations. You're dumping unburned fuel from your exhaust pipe while your lazy turbo wakes up. Trashing your motor oil every time you floor the pedal..... but then again, you probably live to get up and do Saturday morning oil changes, anyway.

Wow. You coooool. Idiot.

And before you come back with some witty response, I probably have more years of experience repairing and building diesel engines than you do on this planet.

It's the one percent of diesel owners like you that prevent diesel technology from taking off in this country. It's people like you that made the Prius possible. People like to blame old attempts at diesel cars in this country, and while there may be some degree of truth to that, in 2015, it's caused by complete morons creating the illusion that diesels are filthy, rather than the truth that they can burn much cleaner and much more efficiently than a gasoline engine.

If trucks are your hobby, learn a thing or two about how diesel engines work, and learn to properly adjust and tune them for maximum efficiency. Imagine all the hundreds of pounds of pollution staying in the fuel tank?

you irresponsible dumbass.

I am a motorcycle rider and I dont care for all the noise that comes from a bike but there are jap bikes louder than some harleys. For the most part people who make all that noise are just saying Look at Me I am an idiot. And I have yet to see to many bikers amongst them. There are a few real bikers in Oneida and you dont hear them making all that noise. I have been ridin for 37 years and never thought of myself as a biker I call myself a motorcycle enthusiast. I just like to ride my Triumph and hopefully not get took out by some asshole in a cage. So if you see me please dont take me out vcause I am not one of the loud bikes on the road.
