I live in Swain County and unfortunatly, Strawbridge Studios has the contract with the 2 schools my children attend. My oldest just started at the Middle school, this year. She was out sick for 2 days, she went back to school the day pictures were to be made, and I find out that morning that you have to prepay for pictures. I have 4 children and I am careful with my money, I feel it's absurd to require a prepayment on something that you haven't even seen. The order form says you can purchase pictures online, so decided that I would just look at her proof online and order if I wanted to. I call today to find out that there are no proofs to look at. Bill Glover says that the "proofs online" are mostly for Senior Pictures. Then WHY IN THE WORLD does the link say "K-11, view and order online"? K-11 does not include Seniors! Because of this absurdness, I will not purchase either childs pictures, and will go somewhere else. Mr. Glover said it costs alot to post proofs onlline. Maybe you should hire someone who knows what they are doing. I can download 1000 pics from my camera/sd card in a matter of moments. Im sure it doesn't take that long to move a file of pics to a web page (I do it online everyday). And it most certainly couldn't cost anything. I hope more people who feel the same way will voice their complaints as well.

It would make more sense to for your school district to hire someone in or around swain county. But your probably not the first who has been held up before by them ... makes you wonder what those fat goofballs who work on their site do all day.
do..

Strawbidge Studios does not dictate the way funds are collected. It is left to the school principal or the school district when a bid is agreed and by contract adhered to.
They are nice people to deal with, but it's a business like any other. Proofs on-line is for mostly seniors. Senior portraits are labor intensive and time consuming, that's if they are done right. Even being able to see pics on-line some still try to get the pics for free by taking screen shots. They have many employees and many schools with different socio-economic needs. They usually surpass the needs. This is why I took my time to respond, they care and help as many people as they can, that's why I found it unusual that there is even 1 response about a customer not being happy. Please look-up Life Touch Studios or Prestiege. You will be happy Strawbridge was there to help.
God forbid a death may happen to a student, Strawbridge sends a package free of charge to the parents. I have known of them to do this personally.

do..

Sounds a lot like a bully by saying something about someones appearance. It also doesn't help the parent who was only wanting pictures of their most precious gift of all, their child.

It's become a running joke now in our family. The photos always turn out terrible. The photographers don't seem to have the patience to get them to smile. They are worse than the DMV. I started an album of "Unfortunate School Photos" because most every single one of them have been bad.. not smiling.. mouth open.. etc. My son told me "they don't give you much time, I wish they had a mirror near the camera so you could make sure you're smiling right" I don't like the pay-ahead thing either. The retake day happens BEFORE you get your first photos back.. which is kind of silly. From now on I will just order the smallest package and pass them around as a joke.

I live in KY and this place did photos for my childs school. When the papers came home informing us to prepay for the pics I however did not do this. My kids did get there pics taken and about two months later they came home with 7 pages of pictures that I either can pay $32 for or I can send back to school. Why they would pre print pics of my children without knowing if I plan to buy them is beyond me. What do they plan to do with the pictures if I don't buy them? What would happen if I just kept them and didn't pay?

You live in Kentucky. No one cares what you think. Go back in the coal mines.

Coal mines? You sound really intelligent! Very few people in KY work in the coal mines, genius. Why don't you get up from your judgemental couch and visit a few places beyond your Mom's house, maybe you will learn something.

You could not have stated this any better, lol! My kids have made goofy faces, hair been a mess, and one even had ketchup in the corners of his mouth! Ridiculous.
