Does anyone know what happened to former Asst Chief Mike Bailey? He seemed like a nice guy, but suddenly "disappeared" and was replaced by Gary Batton and no one will say why.

I seen him last week in Denison Walmart shopping, but I have no idea why he left, although some rumors are it was because of sexual harrasement toward another employee.

He went against Pyle's directives...over the arena that was built and other things....so Pyle fired him...

It's my understanding he started to feel like he had power and thought he should be Chief. The real Chief put him in his place, or took him out of his place and showed him where the real power is. He was a nice guy though but didn't have the best motives. Batton is a very good guy and knows his place and that he had a great thing going so he won't screw it up. He likes his cush job.

I know Mike Bailey personally. We went to school together. I believe his motives to be honest.
Maybe he had better ideas than the Chief. But I know the Chief as well.
There's an old saying about being adle to agreeable disagreeing.
Why can't we just be assured that they came to an agreement and parted ways?
No harassments.
No slight of hand.
No mutiny.
Just a professional decision on both parts.

Because that is not what happened. He did not follow Pyle's directives and so Pyle told him to resign officially but he was forced out. Your right on 2 things...there was no slight of hand or mutiny. Pyle told him to get to stepping and that was it. Pyle has told too many people about what happened and that is the story that I was told from 5 people within his high command. But you know as an old saying goes.."believe what you want to believe"...

It makes no difference who's version of the truth is put on here or spoken outside of Topix. People are going to believe what they believe including you and me.And there were a lot worse things that were said about Bailey's departure stemming back to his days at Jones Academy.

I was a student of his years ago. I also worked for him at the Nation. He's not perfect but you can trust him. He is a very honest man. Unless you have talked to the Chief or Mike, you shouldn't say a word. They know the trueth not you.

I don't know if he left because of harassment, but I know 1st hand that he does sexually assault women and push himself aggressively through unwanted advances. It happened to me and I know people like that do not change their behaviors. He did it to young, single women who needed a job. FACT

It's sad that victims blame themselves for believing someone has their best interests at heart. Assault scars people, and the men doing it are smart and ensure no witnesses. So it is their powerful word against you (a nobody)

Amid the onslaught of sexual assault allegations going on in the political arena, it made me reflect on what happened to me aprx 13 years ago. This type of predator is smart. They focus on attractive women who have a need. They promise jobs and flatter their victim. They always give a little, but never what they actually promised... to keep their victim feeling like they owe them something. Their narcissism makes them dismissive and arrogant. Mike Bailey is this type of person who took advantage of me during a vulnerable time in my life. My mistake was compromising myself by believing I was of value. He pulled me to him, groped my body, kissed my face while I turned my face side to side, and only left when I said that my mother was on her way to my house. He was a family friend, gave me a job, and seemed very kind. Mike called at all hours insisting I have a relationship with him. Promising to fly me to exotic places. He finally stopped after I threatened to expose him. I kept my job for a couple years.. So how could I cause so much trouble and risk not being believed. I am saying this because it is very common for sexual assault victims to stay quiet because they feel they share some of the responsibility by either being in need or allowing themselves to be in a nonprofessional setting expecting professional discussion. The shame and anger does lessen over time, but time doesn't change the fact that it did happen. I should have been brave enough to stand up for myself and quit my job, demand justice, and prevent this from happening to other girls associated with Mike Bailey. I am sorry for not revealing this at the time regardless of my fears. This is actually an apology for not being an example and role model that may have helped someone else. By not speaking, I became a part of the problem and not the solution.
