Seriously, If you can't afford to lose it, don't risk it. Sure, it is nice to win, but gaming is intended to be for entertainment, not a source of income. As far as the types of games available & the 50 cent ante...you will find that all over Oklahoma...not just one casino. As far as the income is concerned...you have no idea all of the programs, donations, and charitable causes that are funded by gaming dollars. I have seen, firsthand, the good that the Choctaws do. I am not just talking about programs for Choctaws, but programs for the community, causes, and assistance to non-choctaws...the list goes on and on. Before making an assumption about someone just sitting around getting rich, you might want to do a little research & see what all good they do in the community and in people's lives. We are fortunate the have the Choctaw Nation and their businesses in our communities...not all businesses and organizations are as generous.

Tell me how someone can enjoy sitting at a chair and enjoy just pushing a button. Mostly the uneducated or stupid people play the slot machines. Stop gambling and send the choctaws to the poor house, it's what they deserve

To hello in Durant, ok. SEriously? Gambling is like drugs. No good can come from it. You seem to think because the choctaws donate money to charity,it makes it ok? Well let me tell you people who sell drugs sometimes donate to charities as well. so does that make it ok for the casinos to ruin peoples lives. You need to wake up. take this for instance, if someone has a 10 dollars to spend, would it best be lost at the casino or buying some grocries? So yeah, lets just go gamble it away because you WILL LOSE, instead of buing a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk.

You need to wake up - Casinos don't ruin people's lives...people ruin their own. People do have the the ability to decide for themselves how to spend that $10. If they need groceries & spend in in the casino instead then it is their own fault...not the casino's. If I were to spend $ on a CD instead of groceries it is my fault...not the store where I bought it. Should we protest McDonald's because people with eatng disorders have ruined their lives with food? People DO have the ability and the right to make decisions for themselves. Sure, people make poor choices & spend money they don't have in the casino. Some people spend money they can't really afford to spend on the latest clothes and shoes, but I don't see people trying to shut down the local shoe store. It is not my job, or anyone elses, to determine how other people should spend their money their free time. What is it with our society thinking they have the right to choose how other people should live their lives. Yes, I realize that other people can donate to charities. I am simply pointing out that, although I do not play myself, we are fortunate that they are in our community helping others in need, as well as, providing jobs and helping our local economy...especially in times like these. You want to talk about people that are stupid & uneducated, but apparently you have taken the time to educate yourself. If you had you would know that there are many successful & intelligent people that enjoy playing slots. If you don't like casinos...don't go - it's as simple as that. Otherwise, leave everyone else alone to do as they choose.

you really do not have a clue what you are talking about. The tribes take care of their own with their own.

My bad, I guess the Govenmint don't give Indians handouts? True they take care of their own, if I ran a casino I would certainly take care of my fellow white Texans.

Don't worry people, a shopping center AND a waterpark are in the works now. I'm not sure where they'll be built, but it'll be "down the road" from the casino; either Choctaw Rd, South 9th Ave, or US 69/75 I assume. Also, the Calera city council approved a plan from ODOT to build an overpass. There were no specifics, but hopefully it'll be built thru the town (replacing the current highway with the overpass) and over Choctaw Rd...hopefully.

Choctaw Casino is a third rate attempt at a casino. It is poorly run, offers nothing, and provides no conveniences of regular casinos. Tables games are "pay to play" whether you win, lose or push. None of the Blackjack tables provide No Midshoe Entry for the experienced players. Very few Blackjack tables are even open. They have no Double Deck Pitch games and most are machine shuffle or continuous machine rotation. I am an experienced player and have seen that most of the players have no clue how to play blackjack. The best option is to spend the money for a trip to Vegas or Mississippi. At these casinos you are at least comped for your play. Choctaw's only comp is a cheap attempt at a buffet. I have played at dozens of casinos and the real ones want your business, but understand that they must provide incentives to keep it. This is not the case with Choctaw. It is purely a "good old boy, small town, small time" place. Don't waste your time or money.

The Indians in those parts don't receive welfare anymore than your white people do. What little of anything they do receive is nothing compared to what the slaughtering White men took from these people. Even Inians living on real reseervations don't get welfare. Our Government hasn't lived up to the treaty the white man agreed to in place of our land. They should've never let them off the boats. Then where would your White pride be. And if you gamle and loose your money in the Casinos, thats why it's called gambling. Only a little compensation for all the things the Native American Indians have been stripped of.

I would like to know where all the money goes? I think its into the pockets of the choctaw nation chief and his buddies. Almost all of their "help" to their people, like housing assistance and even the Choctaw Nation Hospital in Talihina is from FEDERAL grant money. I think they should take they money and start writing checks to the people of the actual choctaw nation tribe. Start with the full bloods and go on down the line.
Do you relize it's been proven that only 20% of federal grant money actually makes it to the indians, after the bureau of indian affairs(put in place as trustees and ran by the federal gov. since 1847) gets thru with paying their own salaries with it (20%)

I do taxes every year and I have plenty of people that have won thousands a year. My neighbor even wins $100 or so a week. So you can't say no body wins there. Theey can't use the money to fix the Highways because the highways are the states problem not the Indians.

They do give some of the gambling money to the Indians after all of the overhead, but do you know how many reservations there are in our great country. These that have the opportunity to have Casinos are fortunate. There are Rez in Arizona and other states that are deplorable. They have no elec. no phones, no running water even tho they sit on water because our Gov. doesn't give them mineral rights, so they have to travel often miles and miles to Community wells, hope they get there early enough or that one will be dry, then they have to drive more miles to fill the lg 55 gal barrels with water, OH I'm sorry the majority of these people have no vehicles, their average income is only about $3,500 per yr.They don't get food stamps and stuff, because you have to have physical address for that they have a rez add. or a community address. They are so far from everything that many of their children don't get schooled, teen suicide rate is astronomical, alot of them have nothing to burn for winter to stay warm, other than their own trash or the wood from their homes. Meanwhile Arizona Pipes the water the rez sits on to the nearest regular communities, you know to water their yards, take a shower, wash their cars. You ever get the chance look up online the show In 30 Days put in their reservations, I think it was navajoe. They can't have casinos, they have no water. Electricity. They do help their own and the ones with casinos help them but their are about 11 or so rez just in Az. and more in SD ND NM that are in poverish. Only to name a few that don't have these luxuries. We wouldn't allow people to live out here the way they have to live. CPS or some Elder group would've stepped in long before now.

We already paid our Tax, when the White man STOLE our country, and put our people on worthless land when we befriended them instead of killing them straight off the boats.

And if you knew your history you would know if it weren't for the Native American Indian language the Japanese would be ruling this country as far as the US Army protecting us goes. My husband is Indian also and he's also a Vet. Do you think only (other) people serve our Military. Look up the war with Japan!!!

As an employee, I have to tell you the machines do not become tighter over night, construction or no construction the machines pay the same, what matters is the AMOUNT of people who have played that INDIVIDUAL machine! Busy day at the casino means a good amount of money ready to pay out, a slow day, say due to a slumping economy means a bad day at the casino! You honestly think we would do something like that, WE DO NOT EVEN SET THE PAY SCALES, a separate organization does, called the Gaming Commission who is operated in conjuction with state gaming offices set the pay outs not us!

We went just the other weekend and stayed at the hotel and resort, had a great time. We took a hundred dollars just to gamble on and had a blast all weekend. I won a number of times over three days in a row, my husband and wound up breaking even we left with our hundred dollars and an entire weekend of gambling and the salt water pool was more than great especially at night. And a guy on a machine behind us only spent about $60 and won $1098. Gambling is called gambling for a reason and if you're gonna do it you have to know your own limits. You don't always win. It was great
