Anybody out there took basic in Ft Lewis, Co A, 1st Btn, 1st Brigade, July-Aug 1971? Remenber guys like Evan-John, Ditsmoore, "Crickett?" Drill Seargent James? Sr. Drill Seargent Perez? I was squad leader, platoon leader, company leader. My second in basic was a tall, gentle Swede dude, red head and freckles. Later two of us were selected for Leadership Training School before 11B AIT and Vietnam. I wound up in Fort Gordon GA and later in 11th Armored Cavalry patroling Chek and Russian borders. I'd like to hear from you.

Hey, Michael, I'm sure I have a pic of my A-1-1 company in basic. I'll try to send you a copy in a couple of days. Maybe you got to buddy-up with some of these guys back then. Our CO was cpt Quilling, if you recognize the name. Please post any other info/pictures you might find about the old AIT 11Bs or 11Cs.

I was in B-1-1 at that time. 6 years later, I was assigned to the same barracks at Ft. Lewis (came back from Okinawa)...except it was now 268th Signal Battalion.

I don't have any photos from basic. All I have left are a few prints from Okinawa (73-75) and a couple from when I was stationed at Bragg (50th signal battalion).

I wonder if they kept photo records at Lewis? I know several young'uns stationed there I could ask. I'd really enjoy having a pic of my class. Never thought I'd be thinking that after all these years.:)

I arrived @ Ft. Lewis on Aug. 11, 1971. Basic didn't start right away. Forget what the delay was? I do remember my DI was Smith and one of the other platoons had DI Archibald. Our CO was Captain Payne, young guy maybe 24 / 25. I don't remember PLT, CO etc. 44 years is a long time
