Gee thats so nice of them to wave the permit fee.Just wondering why I would even have to buy a yard sale permit to have a yard sale on MY property(that I pay Plenty of taxes on)to sell stuff that I have bought and I no longer want.Pretty soon you'll probably have to buy a permit to cut your grass or plant a garden

The permit is like $5 and it covers the cost of the city workers to go around and take all those yard sale signs down that people just leave up around town.

I did not realize there was a June 5th deadline until I checked Topix just now. Is it AT ALL possible to still participate in the yard sale?

I do not mind not being on the map but do I need to get a permit? Though I am not "officially" registered, can I still make a donation to DuKare and pick up balloons on Friday?

Anyone can have a yard sale on Saturday. The Village Board waived the permit for this eventon Saturday because we are trying to do it as a fundraiser for DuKare Food Pantry and something to bring the town together in a positive way. There will be people at the Village Park from 11 AM to 7 PM on Friday, June 12th. ANYONE can drop off a donattion to DuKare, we would LOVE that. Signs, balloons and maps will be available for the people that actually signed on. Since we are working with a $0 budget, our copying has got to have a cut off. But, donations for DuKare....AWESOME. Believe it or not, we have 85!!
people signed on to have a yard sale. Two BBQ's and one house on Louisa with donuts and coffee. There may be more food and/or drinks at other houses too.
Thank you everybody!!! FYI...the sale is on Craigslist, FOX2 News yard sale and will be in the Clarion, Waterloo Times, and all the Suburban Journals in the South County area. Spread the word!!

85 Is a good number for our first year. Also I heard there will be a Salvation Army Truck somewhere in Town for people to drop their stuff off after the yard sale, is this true?

congrats, to you this was my thought too and the fee that they charge is bogus to have the village worker's take down the sign's around town that everyone leaves up cause everytime I've ever had a yard sale I take down my own sign's afterwards so whoever said that in later post's from this one is full of it cause I've not seen them take stuff down anyway, they are to busy standing around leaning on a shovel trying to look busy what a screwed up town this place is they have streets that need fixing but won't fix instead they want to make a road side park for what so the thugs of the town can stand there and aggravate innocent people while the loser cop boys sit and watch at the bank parking lot. I'am sorry but I've lost faith in this town ever becoming something good. And to many people are fed up with all the stupid pulictial bull that goes on around here and the high taxes. Keep up the good work Dupo before long this town will be just like Cahokia is now you'll have a pretty town with only what lives in Cahokia now to support your asses.

Yes the salvation army will have a truck at the high school at 2pm. Please only donate items that are in decent/usable condition. Also if you have large items you can call and setup a date for them to come to your house. 1,800,SA,TRUCK
