I've worked in nursing home kitchens that are inspected once per year by The Health Department. I've also worked at a restaurant that celebrities frequent since the owner is a sports celebrity. Guess whos kitchens are cleaner?

We were there having pizza a few years back and there was part of a pencil baked in the pizza. Haven't been back since.
Damn 313 don't you ever get a full nights sleep. I thought I was the only one up at the crack of dawn. I haven't slept a whole night in years

Have you never seen a roach in your home? Or you were cooking and you dropped something in the pot on accident? You can't(well obviously you can)judge a place by one incident. The people that run restaurants are human...in case you didn't realize. Mistakes happen. Even at the best run restaurants. Think of how often the front door is opened and closed, no matter how well you keep things clean and exterminate sometimes well, shit just happens. And to assume that the server didn't wash her hands, that's just wrong. You ask any server, bartender, or cook and they are going to tell you how hard it is to keep your hands from cracking because you are washing them every five minutes or less. Why be so quick to bash a place because of an isolated incident. Lets hope that your friends and family don't ever come to your house and see a bug walking around. They may never come back to visit you again.

UMM, EWWWWWW I have NEVER had a roach in my house. And if I did I would not be ok with that. I will call any and every one to come spray. And no sorry I dont let things fall into my food when I cook, If by chance something ever did. I would remake it. But THat has never happend. I would hate to be at your house. I guess you have bugs and stuff falling in your food huh? ICKY .. And my Husband wonders why I will never buy anything at bake sales.. Umm, might be because of people like u who dont mind roaches and stuff falling in there mixing bowls... Sucks to be u

I don't think Boccardi's will miss you. They have a great business and the people who work there are always friendly and the service is great. I really doubt that you have never had a bug in your house. If you would have told Ray (the owner) he more than likely would have comped your meal. I will continue to go there as will the rest of there customers who enjoy good food and good service which is hard to come by these days.

I really do not believe that there has never been a bug in your house. Just because a bug is in someone's house does not mean they are dirty people. Bugs exist in this world and no matter how hard you may try, bugs will may their way inside sometimes. It's not like the roach was in your food. No body there purposefully put bugs inside. It happens. And while you stay at home and cook from now on, thing of all the bugs and things that have made their way into canned vegetables and every item you buy at a grocery store! Seriously, at least the waitress removed the bug from the restaurant. I would be more concerned if she didn't care and left it there. Joe's is great and I will still eat there.

Please point out where Class of 01 indicated that they "don't mind roaches and stuff falling in their mixing bowls". I can't seem to find that sentence. I think they simply stated that it happens, not that they like it.

With your tunnel vision it sounds like it might suck more to be you. Not only are you full of crap for thinking you have never had a bug in your home, you are stupid enough to say it out loud!

I don't care what restuarant you go to, there are always going to be isolated incidents such as this. I think Baccardi's place is great and will be sure to patronize them this weekend to try and compensate for some of the damage a non-educated customer tried to inflict.

I also have enough sense to know that roaches and other insects will come in on any paper products that you bring into your home or restuarant. Are you telling me you don't bring paper products into your home?

Enjoy eating at home, bet your husband will love that!

OK, that was funny. If you believe you have NEVER had a roach in your home, you just go right on believing it.

If you have ever been to a meat processing plant or any other plant where food is processed, you would never eat again. They make that one random roach at the restaurant seem small in comparison.

You are obvioulsy computer literate, why don't you do some reseach and then check back.

I just saw on another restaurant thread facts/opinions about some other restaurants. Sounds like MOST restaurants have either nasty atmosphere, or nasty owners/workers. Makes me never want to go out to eat!!

I have never SEEN a roach in my house either. Yes it is very clean but I do know that they like to travel in grocery bags and can live on the glue in the binders in books. As a kid I remember coming home from a friends house and one crawling out of the cuff in my jacket. She freaked!

If that is the way your mind works, then please, do not go out to eat. We don't want you in our restaurant. It will save us money because we will not have to comp off your food over something stupid. I have worked in restaurants for six years now. I feel better eating at a restaurant than say I would a hospital. Every kitchen I have been in, the workers bust their butts to keep it so clean seeing as how the health inspectors can come at any time. If a place was infested, it would be shut down. Do not bash the food industry just because of a thread that you read. And I know of a lot of servers who carry hand sanitizer in their aprons just to double up on the hand washing because of all the nasty people that they have to serve.

And no, I do not like roaches in my food. If it were to happen to me, I would inform the manager, I would probably not continue my dinner, but I would also not be going around telling everyone and I would visit that place again. It was an isolated incident. Until you have four or five people coming on here saying it's happened to them, I wouldn't be worried about it. But bugs do happen. I had my monthy extermination two weeks ago and I had a spider last week. It happens, even when you pay a lot of money for it not too. And someone brought up a good point, they come on paper products. Every item in that restaurant comes in a cardboard box. Whos to say it was Joe's fault it was there. Maybe you should also find out who the distributor is and not go anywhere they deliever either.

Cardboard boxes are a great way for them to come in. You know the trucks that carry good have all kinds of different items in them from various distributors. I once worked in a restaurant that was spotless at closing. The kitchen walls and every surface was cleaned from top to bottom. There was a locker room and I saw a roach in it.
They are absolutely disqusting. When we moved from overseas, we had out house sprayed twice because they are bad on the ships. The roach could have crawled out of somebody's purse or anything. I don't see where Bacardis is dirty and the staff is so friendly. He gave me gift certificates for my sisters benefit and that meant so very much to me. On the other hand, as a teenager, I worked at a restaurant in Belleville that was loaded with roaches and they didn't spray. I would lift the plates to make salads and there would be many of them everywhere. They let food set out on large banquet trays for days.
