why do they use books with spanish in them when they are learning english?? they never send any notes with homework and expect the kids to remember the right way to do it, yea right. I could go on and on but I'll save it for the parent teacher conference.

And then you wonder why some students do poorly in school. It starts at home with parental expectations of their children to do well and have some aspiration to do well in life.

Does anyone else getthe impression that this is the proud parent of a career D student? It's always everybody else's fault.

These days many text books have Spanish as a built in part of it. Gotta love the times changing.

Most classes I know of take notes. It's just up to the kids to actually be awake in class and pay attention long enough to take them.

But you're right, it's all the teacher's fault as always.

Well, SOME teachers in the HS suck, lol. But definately not all. And it is so true, the kids have to put forth the effort. Kids these days dont want to do the work, even the simple things. Guess they have better things to do. LOL. Then they whine and complain to the parents that the teachers arent teaching, the parents get pissed, and go off half-cocked.
You may want to settle down before the conferences. You will prob look like a fool. Im glad i have two that made it thru the HS. My little one is still in bluffview, and the conferences are always nice, lol.

Children have so many thing's these day's that stimulate their right brains it's no wonder that school bore's them. Teachers are, for the most part, left brain or whole brain thinkers, therefore our whole education system is taught from that guideline. Children that are right brain thinkers have a hard time doing well in school. There is a really good book called
"Right Brain Children in a Left Brain World"
If you have a child with ADD/ADHD get that book before you medicate.

And excuse me for being mad that there is no direction giving with homework. I rember the old days when i had home work i atleast had something to look at to help me figure out what is to be done, i am not gunna do my child homework for them but will help them out but if you give them the answers they will never learn nothing.

I agree hooty hoooo, my child is struggling in reading too. Last night she had math homework that she didn't understand. I looked at the book but there were no examples and my daughter said her teacher didn't explain it to the class, just told them to do it. I told her to go to her teacher and ask for an explaination on how to do it. So we'll see how that goes.

Have you guys contacted the teacher(s) and explained your problem? It is so easy now to get in contact with them. I e-mail them all the time with questions or concerns and they are usually very good about getting back to me quickly. Start with the teacher, if you don't like the explanation or don't get help, talk to the principal. If still not satisfied contact a school board member or go to a school board meeting. There is a meeting tonight at 6:30. I believe you have to be put on the agenda to speak, but just call the superintendents office.

So if you are not trying to bash anyone, why would you say "Dupo Teachers Suck"? You never have said if you tried to contact the teacher or do anything about it besides complain on this site. With an attitude like this, it probably rubs off on your kid and that is why he/she is having trouble.

First of all WHAT i have emailed the teachers and i have also talked personaly to Mr Bione, and nothing and i mean nothing has been done. And i never said a teachers name i said all teachers suck because if they didnt then they would of done something about my issues with the homework and other problems this school district has. But your making it out that i am bashing other people i never bashed anyone except the ones who have bashed me. And attitude well let me tell you something yes i have an attitude with stupid people like you but i do not show that in front of my child im not ignorant like that, my child respects people and her parents unlike most of the kids in this town. And for my child having trouble excuse me nobody is perfect especialy you and struggling with 1 subject is better than faling them all like most of the kids that go to school here.

If Bluffview and the teachers are so bad and most of the kids are failing as you say, then why do the ISAT scores of the students reach into the 90's and mid 90's? The info is available at the ISBE website all you have to do is look. Try comparing those scores to others in the area and you will see we fare very well. I have.

Hooty Hoooo.. You should have realized that your title was going to cause hard feelings.
But I understand your frustration. I have dealt with some wonderful teachers, but I have had a few that should not be allowed to work at the pound let alone teach children. A few teachers just do not care any more, some never did and others are just brunt out.
Teachers are over worked and under paid and have to deal with all kinds of parents and children. Dupo, like all school district's, has some really great teachers. Unfortunately, thanks to the teachers union, it is almost impossiable to get rid of the bad ones. I think there should be cameras in every class room, or at least audio.
Parents should be able to go and listen to the class room discussions and then maybe they would be able to understand what their child was taught that day and be better able to help their child with homework and teach their child to take better notes. Not sure how that would work with the privacy issue but there has to be a way. Just glad my kids are out and working on college.

I wouldn't say all teachers are underpaid. Teachers in the north make more than 100k in salary and benefits while our top teachers here make about 70 to 75k. Administrators make even more. Check out TheChampion.org .

I had a friend who just moved to Alaska to teach.
He was making 45K here and will be starting out at 70K there.
