Just had an Italian Beef Sandwich and spaghetti, very good, and a lot for the money. Keep up the good work, and ignore all the losers commenting on this post.

Pazzo piza was given $40,000 of your tax dollars to open in Dupo! Residents is it worth $40,000 of your hard earned money to have a pizza joint in town? TIF spending is a waste of our money. The school district just raised taxes because they need more.
Well, was it a check for $ 40,000 or $ 40,000 in tax incentives?

You started this sh!t, now speak up.

There is an article in the Belleville paper about how TIF's are not performing as they were supposed to. As I've said before, as a developer, I was not a fan of TIFS. Yet, I could not compete with TIF's in other communities. They prey off of other cities. If they were all elliminated, or at least used in the way that they were intended, it would even the playing field. On the other hand, a city could not expect a developer to pay for everything and the city pay nothing yet prosper greatly from the soon to be bankrupted developers efforts. As far as Pazzos Pizza is concerned, TIF may have, or not have been the source of the funding. It could have been a grant or some other incentive. As I've noted before, TIF applies only to infrastructure costs. Personnally I welcome Pazzo Pizza to Dupo.

Actually, they signed an agreement that they will stay open for 5 years. If they don't stay open, they pay it back (In addition to the huge personal investment they made!) If they do stay open, then the whole town benefits from the revenue they generate, plus the jobs created. So either way, DUPO is not out anything and only BENEFITS! KNOW YOUR FACTS! Besides, would you rather this town turn into some hole in the wall with nothing but a few bars and churches? I think it's great we're getting some local businesses. Plus the food is GREAT. I support the Greenwoods and the huge risk they took. I won't get pizza anywhere else.
I would like to know where you found this information. Is it in the public records? I have never heard of an agreement like this. If it is true, great agreement. I have had Pazzo's pizza and thought it was very good. I just don't like the idea of my tax dollars being spent foolishly when they are constantly being raised!

Thanks Dupofan2.

The original poster made it sound like TIF money was handed out to them in the form of a check. I didnt think that tif handed out checks, just incentives.

As far as Pazzo Pizza goes, We really like the pizza and are very glad for them to be here in Dupo.

You may have a point 'really'. I'm not sure how residential TIF's are set up, but I do know that the infrastructure costs to that subdivision were on the cheap. Oil and chip streets, it was virgin land for sewers and water, meaning no obstacles to deal with, and a poorly planned water retention area. If the TIF is set up for a given time period, say 20 years, I think if it only takes 8 or ten years to pay the cheap infrastructure costs, that those taxes should then go to the normal entities, and not just keep collecting those TIF payments for all those years. A west county developement did that. The TIF was set up for 23 years, but it was good a business location and they paid the TIF off in like 7 years. Those funds were then released. That school system recieved over 2 million dollars that first year from that developement.

I personally could go without pazzo pizza I ordered there and the food was not great at all. I think knjs pizza is a million times better. We have plenty of pizza parlors who deliver so its not like we would be starving. I think dupo should give us a variety.... maybe a chinese or mexican restaurant since we already have american (dairyland, & subway) and italion (knj, pizza hut, dominos, etc)

So start your own restaurant and bring in what food you are wanting to eat around here.

I can't believe how many people complain about Pazzo being here, when before, people complained that there are no businesses here! Make up your mind! I LOVE their lunch buffet - I hope they stay here for a long time. Plus my cousin got a job there, and so did a lot of other people who need jobs.

Hey 'really', I may disagree with the board on some decisions, but just because they don't think as I do, I would never refer to them as the circle jerk gang. Try serving in a public position. Then try to please everyone....it's not happening. That's why most don't want to bother with politics. There will always be people who will call you a circle jerker based on your decisions. Most of the time, these decisions are made based on the most accurate information at hand, such as engineering and design plans, zoning, lots of details that aren't known to the general public. Sometimes they don't make the right decisions, but thats the real test of public service. Are you making this decision based on what's best for the community.
And as far as the TIF thing, you can research it as well as I. All I do is ask questions. They say if you learn something new everyday, you will be a successful person.

I totally agree with you about the blacks that have moved into Dupo. Sorry people, but my kids hang around most of them(not any from behind KNJ), but the others are the nicest and most polite kids i know in town.(SOMETIMES including my own). Take care of you and your own and let their families take crae of them. For all we know they moved here from Cahokia to get away from the same thing the whites moved here to get away from. Maybe just to better themselves. LOL. Gotta start somewhere.

Too bad the tax money couldnt be used to clean up the town and make people actually want to live here Get rid of the crack dealers would be a big step but then half the town would be gone.

I am from columbia illinois and I am unemployed. I was just wondering if Pazzo Pizza is hiring? My parents just bonded me out of jail, and I need to find a job asap to pay legal fee's and if any fines I might receive. I am coming up there this week to get a application. Have a nice day! Roy B
