bought a house from ca jones 3 years ago in Stonefield right in front of vandebrook. I have a drainage ditch behind my house that backs up about 10 feet into my yard everytime that it rains. CA JONES came out and half ass fixed it after fighting with them for a month, but it still backs up into my yard as well as everyone elses. I am trying to get a petition going so I can take it to the city and contact 2 news and see if we can get anything done that way. If you have had any problems with these builders before or are someone that is affected by a drainage ditch in Stone field please let me know. I have a daycare out of my home and we cant play outside for days after it rains because the water level is so high. I am scared that my child as well as other children will seriously hurt themselves because of this. If anyone has any advice please let me know. Thanks.

The CA Jones subdivision in Dupo is full of a bunch of poorly built houses.

The problem lies in they hire these guys that have no expirience. I have a neighbor that works for them and he had zero expirience as well....I would hire some one to fix it for you then take them to court for reimbursment.

What are the problems everyone is finding ?The only big deal I have found so far is that nail heads are popping up on the sheet rock . Why didn't they use screws ?

I have had a lot of problems, when we first moved in our air conditioner didnt work and it took them 4 months to fix it. Also our hardwood foyer had cracks and chips in it and it took them 2 years to replace it. They tried screwing us on our loan, they gave us papers saying we were getting a 30 yr. fixed rate and we got to closing and come to find out it was a 5 yr. interest only. I could go on forever

I challenged the Dupo board on two main problems in the developement of that subdivision.I went to every board member to protest the allowing of oil and chip streets. If not concrete,at least good asphalt streets.Their reasoning was that the concrete streets on 6th thru thru 10nth streets didn't hold up.This is because those concrete streets were poured on dirt..without proper street codes followed.Only two board members voted against oil and chip.Norm Thompson and Curtis Pelate. The water retention is a joke. This is a result of the boards desperation to accomodate the developer so they could get the much needed subdivision going.During heavy rains keep your kids far away from that culvert at 5th street.A kid could easily get sucked into that culvert with the volume of water there. There will be no easy solution. It's against the law to increase the size of the culverts...there will be many lawsuits from those downstream if that is attempted. My advice..organise a covenant board by all the citizens in that subdivision.Attend the board meeteings in mass..and have one speaker.I think the board will tend to respond in a respectable manner.Even though mistakes were made,it doesn't pay to attack with anger.Just my opinion.

My name is Meghan Stumpf and I am the Sales Manager for C. A. Jones Inc. and I would to take this opportunity to invite everyone with a complaint for C. A. Jones to send it directly to Chris Jones in writing at 8814 Summer Road Columbia IL 62236 or to myself. I am sorry that some of you are having issues and would like to address each of them. As far as people in Bluffview with complaints, I am currently in the early stages of setting up the homeowners association and would love to have volunteers for this committee.

Thanks

Also, C. A. Jones, Inc has nothing to do with the type of loan you receive that is your lenders decision, not ours.

I totaly agree with ya. Are sub pump pumps water into r back yard not even 3 ft away from the house. Are whole back yard is always flooded. The water keeps leaking back into the sub pump and it just keeps pumping it in the same spot causeing are back yard to flood. I can't even mow my grass until it drys out and i have been waiting for over a month now. Then are front door was put in up side down so they have to take the whole door frame and turn it up right which was over a year and a half ago and still hasn't been fixed.

An association if it is like some I know of is just going to cost ya,and put all kind of silly rules into place. At first you can start out acting very civil with them and by the time you get done talking your so mad it just goes south. If they had the quality in there construction and customer service this topic would not even be on here.

Unfortunately, posting a topic on topix is not an effective way to get any follow up work addressed since Chris nor Becky seldom get on here. As a I stated early, please send all complaints in writing and they WILL BE addressed. We have recently revamped the management department at C. A. Jones and I am confident that everyone will see an improvement in this company. If you would like to speak with me personally about this matter, feel free to call me directly at 6 1 8 5 5 8 2 7 7 1. On another note, if you do feel that C. A. Jones is a horrible builder, I would not recommend posting topics such as this one because it will only hinder your chances when trying to resell your home!

Your best option is to file a small claims suit if the damages are under 5k. If the problems are more costly, perhaps retain an attorney. If money is an issue there is a option to get together numerous C.A Jones complaintants to file together. Good luck.

We bought a house in 2006 & have little problems & most have been fixed. The fact is that I was there every other day checking on the work. Put a little responsiblity on yourself. If you don't like the sump pump daining into your yard dig out a trench run the pipe out to the ditch & cover it back up.

Hi Meghan . I just had a quick question with regards to the homes in Bluffview and the elevation they were built at . Do you know if they have been built up high enough to avoid the new FEMA flood insurance requirments that are getting ready to come out ? I just looked at my appraisal(for house on Miranda) and it shows I am in zone X-500 which is the 500 year zone .

I live in waterloo (stonefield) and I was also there all the time to and have had tons of problems. And as far as responsibility goes, when I hand someone a $200,000 check for a house it is there responsibilty to make sure the home is built properly. Dont offer a warranty with the house if your not going to fix anything.
