You are not kidding. When I type my password in, it takes 15 to 20 min. for me to be able to be online. That is a bunch of crap for the amount I pay every month for internet service. It isn't just ever now and then either, it is continuously.

Pssh. I live in Arizona. After switching from my favorite internet company ever, I moved and Frontier was the only company to choose from... I'd rather not have internet than deal with the frustration it gives me. I gave up on playing online games. I always lag out. I can't play Youtube videos, it buffers every other second. Frontier = bull shit

Same here we signed up with verizon just before the changeover to Frontier and the internet speed have been crappy. We had 3 megs for 2 weeks and not we are at 650K. we contacted them and said well we only guarantee up to 3 megs down so 650K is still internet service. Scammers, I paid the $90 calcel fee as I am fed up.

I'm in Pennsylvania and have frontier. I'd rather have my AOL connection from 1997 back than have this crappy service. 2 dsl modems and I can barely login to Xbox live. We have an Apple Tv and have to start downloading a movie at noon if we want to watch it at 8 pm. On top of that, there's a Comcast line 2,000 feet away, which Comcast said would cost 14,000 dollars to run a line to my house. Ridiculous. Our country invented the Internet and we are the most poorly wired. My frontier service
Is 150 a month and we can hardly use any of our devices. I'm considering jailbreaking my
iPhone and tethering it to every device I have. The other night my download speed
on my dsl line was 277 kb/s and I'm paying for 3 mb/s. My phones speed was 3.7 mb/s download. We live 3 miles from a huge Frontier plant. WTF

Unbelievable! Frontier is a joke! The reps. are flat out arrogant and ignorant pricks. Not looking forward to it, but tme to switch back to comcast. I am cancelling my account asap. I do not care how long it takes for comcast to set me up. I sincerely hope Frontier suffocates itself! Wankers...

Frontier has got to be the WORST internet service in the world! I am switching to cable in the morning THANK GOD! I have told all of friends and family to NOT use this HORRIBLE service. I sucks that some people don't have any choice. I look forward to them going out of business soon :)

I am among the no-choice. The cable company that has the contract in my township doesn't have a line on my road. I'm sitting here right now with my standalone modem running at 115 kb/s and my phone line/modem running at 1300 kb/s. Both are supposed to be at 3 mb/s. How can this be?

First I agree Frontier sucks. I was one of the unlucky ones that Frontier took over from Verizon recently. Download speed is all over the place no matter what time of the day or what site. Verizon wasn't perfect, but they were 100x better in consistent speeds.

On a side note I think some people are confusing kilobits per second/megabits per second and kilobytes per second/megabytes per second.

Your internet provider generally advertises in megabits per second. Which is not the same as megabytes per second.

Then, when you download something windows likes to display in kilobytes per second.

Say as some have mentioned you have a 3 megabit per second download package. Which is 3000 kilobits per second.

But you need to convert that to kilobytes since both you and your computer are more familiar with that. So 3000 divided by 8 = 375 kilobytes per second maximum on with that 3 megabit connection.

It's not 3 megabytes it's megabits. Just take your package and divide by 8. Then, consider line loss, quality, and distance from main line and you need to realize you rarely get the max speed.

So with a 3 megabit connection you should see a consistent 330-355 kilobyte per second download with good lines and reasonably close to a main line.

If you are seeing this number go from 200-350 like me for a 3 megabit then they might not be providing as much dedicated bandwidth as they should, they are throttling, or they just plain suck.

When I had verizon the were a constant 350 kilobyte per second download any time of the day with very good pings and low latency. Not so with Frontier.

I'll keep watching the quality of service, but other options are a bit higher in my area.

I've been stuck with Frontier for years, and people in my area have no choice.

I live in a small area and like most, I'm paying $110 for phone and internet. 3Mb package, because that's all they offer. The great part is that when we first signed up, we were getting 1.5Mb instead, and being charged the same price. At the time Verizon was still right down the road. I complained and complained to Frontier about the fact that Verizon offered the same speeds for much much less, and I was sick of getting screwed. They wouldn't listen and I finally had enough. I wrote a nice little email to the Better Business Bureau explaining the situation, they contacted Frontier, who said they did not service my area. I asked if they wanted a copy of my bill and within days I had 3Mb.

My friend who lives directly across from the CO still gets 1.5...

I would rather pay $140 for FiOS, Phone, and HD TV, sadly that's not an option.

Suppert is non existent, and the on sight techs are clueless. We needed a new phone jack last year and the guy ran a 100ft cable into my living room and hooked it to a jack with sticky tape on the back. He left and was never seen again....

Recently changed to frontier as Verizon has left the area and turned it over to frontier. They advertised a bundle of internet plus land line for $55. I called and ordered it. My bill for one full month of service?$77.50. As I went through it, my initial bill for phone service was being charged as $45.99 and DSL line $19.99. That's exactly $10 more than advertised. Phone agent's patronizing answer? "This is what you ordered, Ma'am." "You can change your service, but will have to pay a cancellation fee as you agreed to a 2 year contract." End of conversation for him. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he told me the wait would be very long. He then essentially hung up on me. These guys are total jerk.

Tell you how I'm spending my "2 years" - finding ANYTHING other than frontier to order and replace them.

I think that it is because they have a monopoly in Rural areas. We need to put together a law suit againts them.
Go to speedtest.net and test your download speed. See if it is even close to what they promise. If it isnt then they need to explain why it isnt.
We pay 113.00 per month for slow high speed and phone we dont even use.
We are promised 1.3 mbps which would be fine if we got it. I just tested it at speedtest and what we actually have is 0.42 mbps.
This is unacceptable and a rip off.
Frontier sucks!

Worst DSL service ever. They lie to customer that there is no problem, while multiple customers I have spoken to are experiencing DSL speeds under 1 MBPS. Not what I pay for. But no problem, I'm switching next week, Time Warner can't get here fast enough.
