as you can see from the responses, there is not a gay community in Dunlap. There are a couple of us who are out, but very few. Takes a lot of balls to withstand some of these people. There is a guy named Fred at walmart. Good guy, he could tell you more about it.

One of my best friends is a gay man in this town and yes, there are several. But most are not "openly gay" because as you can see there are alot of small minded people here.

My mind is just the right size. Big enough to think for itself without being led by all the politically correct people in the world that are afraid of offending someone. Small enough to have no room for just accepting any idea that some group tries to make me accept.

Well, it's a little more diverse than it used to be at least, way back when. I don't foresee an open gay community here anytime soon. I'm just personally grateful that this thread, and our community, contains as much tolerance as it does, considering how it used to be. Thus far at least, there are signs of acceptance, if not aggreement, for the differances.
Now, if we could just switch any intolerance of homosexuality toward an intolerance of pornography or child molestation and perhaps animal abuse, I would be one happy camper.
Also ( a bit off topic) to "notjustmyopinion," it does bother me quite a bit to hear someone say" you need to go back and read your Bible some more."
I've done my homework. I even read beyond the Bible... I recommend it highly.

Well, obviously you didn't do it well. There is something to be said for comprehension. Next time , actually study it and you SHOULD find that it is not at all off topic. I don't care if it bothers you or not. What you want it to say and what it does say are two different things. The Bible does not in any way condone homosexuality. If what I said bothers the whole world that's fine if it gets people to study up on this subject. And if you " even read beyond the bible ", which in itself is an insult to Christianity to say, then you read the words and ideas of some man or woman. When you meet your maker, tell him you read beyond his word and see how well your argument holds up.

For "Notjustmyopinion:
To read beyond the Bible is an insult to Christianity? Really?
Whose Christianity, then, if I may be so bold as to ask, do you refer? Is it the one that tortured the Jews until they confessed and converted in the middle ages, or does it stem from an even earlier time; the one that attempted to destroy or else destroyed (by the sword if necessary) every opposing Christian (yes Christian) sect from the gnostics to the cathars? Why? Because there was competition and dissention, and because profit (control) can only exist in a unified front wherein Might Makes Right.
Google Constantine, if you are the least interested.

My comment "read beyond the Bible" refers to the awareness of the VERY human endeavor of theology. Where in my post do any of my thoughts concerning Christianity ever overlap with my personal views on homosexuality? As I stated, I am glad of the tolerance our community has shown thus far regarding this issue. I remember a time when we were much less tolerant.
Agape.
God is a better judge than you or I will ever be. God knows our hearts, your's and mine. I will leave it at that.

You will learn soon enough that this is not Calif. or NY City. If you are gay in Dunlap I wouldn't be flauntin it. It's not so much a Christianity thing as it is just a plain ole hated thing. I can guarantee you that you will not get the love and understanding here that you might in San Francisco.

<quoted text>If your sexuality is anything other than being attracted to the opposite sex, you know ,the one that you can naturally reproduce with, then you are committing a crime against nature and should be treated as such. And don't give me the it's natural to them speech because same on same is not natural to anyone. If a couple cannot reproduce for any reason other than a legitimate medical problem then this should make them realize theirs is not a natural relationship. It is, however, disgusting. And to the politically correct "christians" out there who want to jump on me in support of homosexuality, you had better go back and study your Bible some more. God does love everybody, but there will be a lot of good people in Hell. Times may change but God doesn't. Now let the bashing of me and my opinion begin.
Sorry really hate to burst ur bubble but I have also read the Bible and u want to speak about Christianity and yes God does love everyone and he is also a forgiving God! Also, some people were born that way same as u and I. So don't u think since God makes man and through birth and his blood we are all his children so why judge and be prejudice against gay people. By the way, Thou Shall Not Judge! I'm pretty sure that falls under a commandment that u are breaking by judging God's Children! Since u call urself a Christian!

Pappy: It may be YOUR hated thing...but not for many of us. Why can't you just leave people alone and let them live their lives. I'm sure you don't speak for many people in Dunlap. If you do....then I am mortified and stuff.....

It actually says judge not lest ye be judged. And God is a forgiving god. But to be forgiven of a sin, You must ask for it and stop the sin. Everyone sins and I have done plenty of my own but when you realize you have, you stop and ask forgiveness. Homosexuality is a sin and if a homosexual wants forgiven for it then the sin must stop. I don't care if someone judges me, I judge myself and don't always like what I see. So go ahead.
