Front page of todays disturber. AJ and the dum dums want to spend 12,000 DOLLARS of TAXPAYER money to PAY someone to run the Access station when for 30 years it's been run for FREE???

Why in the world would you pay 2 college kids to run it , and put on fredonia state shows when you can see them on channel 19 already? I don't care about watching Suny Programs! I want to see Dunkirk events for FREE the way its always been!!!! Why not spend 12 Grand on patching some of the POTHOLES in the city! Or buy the cops a new patrol car- or figure out how to get the Fireman a respectactable Firehall for gods sake. Watch who votes on this resolution Tuesday, oh wait you can't-- we'll have to watch Fredonia State Garbage instead !!!!!

If you would have paid attentionduring budget tie YOU would know that the city paid Cable Access $25,000 per year. That equals out to $2083.00 per month. Jokes on you, this IS saving the city money. At least now, maybe there will be coverage!!

I won't point out the laughable irony that your screen name is pay attention but your last comment was directed towards the wrong person.

The Access Channel isn't PAID anything- the 25,000 Budget line is for operational costs Heat, Rent,Electric, Supplies , Equipment. The 12,000 in question is to MANAGE the operations. Something which has been accomplished at NO COST to the city. The 12 grand is a New Cost to a city which cannot afford for money to be wasted. Therefore the City will be SPENDING AN ADDITIONAL THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH on something that has been done for FREE for 30 YEARS. I believe the joke is YOU.

The reality is..AJ continues to raise fees and rates...Taxes are too high in that ghetto...there has been no new development on the waterfront and no resorations of other buildings in the city under AJs watch...At least previous administrations realized they had to spend money to build and renovate to get results. Dunkirk has new development, the housing stock is horrendous and you can put lipstick on a pig...but it's still a pig. Reduce the size of government. Cut the police and fire departments. Make the Dunkirk fire department completely voluntary and follow silver creek's path, eliminate the police deparment and pay for coverage from the County Sheriffs. They patrol Dunkirk anyways. The County Sheriffs can have a Southtowns Satelite office to cover Dunkirk, Fredonia, the Town of Dunkirk, Town of Pomfret, Town of Sheridan and Silver Creek.
If no development plans are announced soon, I think AJ's time is up.

No clue you have the facts correct. The City has a volunteer issue with Access 12. The person that runs the Access station Has no help and it has become a burden for her to do every thing. She gives it her best. Now it sounds like AJ dosen't care if she stays around or not. This also applies to Dan McGill. I wonder how Kiyak will vote on this one.

The "issue" has to do with the fact no one wants to volunteer because of Danny & Christa. They've driven every volunteer away...and no one wants to come back.

I think your way off on this one Dunkirk Guy. Dan Mcgill and Christa Haynes have tried very hard to keep Access Alive in Dunkirk. They still have a good working relationship with Fredonia Access, Mayville Access and Suny Fredonia. The problem is simply lack of volunteers. The City is pretty much performing a hostile takeover of the Channel. The "New" Management I believe is a conflict of interest because the hot rumor is Kiyak's Husband is tied to the college Television People. Therefore this I believe is a more CLOSED Door Government , with more Back door deals that are in council and the Mayor's own interest. Kiyak's husband involved? Rumor at the moment. Let's see what Tuesday's vote will be.

Besides the new management will welcome volunteers- To do the work they will be PAID to do. So go jump on the wagon with them- They'll be happy to have you do the work for them...

I,m sure they're good people. But we can't afford it. And it's a waste of money. Who the heck watches that channel anyway?

Danny Mcgill ran that cable station in the ground. If the station was audited, they would find discrepencies in revenue...yes revenue...Time Warner paid cable fees to the Cable Board...now they are all short on the cash. The people who ran it got all the benefits, no they are crying broke and blaming the problems on lack of volunteers. Danny and Christa arent the most knowledgable or pleasant of people to work with. Danny killed Access 12...take a look at why he was fired from walmart...wentto the cookie jar one too many times

For someone who has the screen name In the Know, you don't have any of your information correct!
Danny and Christa might not have been the most knowledgeable or pleasant people to work with, but they did go out and record shows for the community.
Time Warner pays cable fees to the City of Dunkirk, not the cable board and the cable board is one of the boards not mentioned that they didn't get paid to be on that board.

Wow! U are so far off it's laughable! There are no discrepancies in revenue. The Cable Board doesn't get money from the franchise fee. That goes directly into the General Fund at City Hall. Mark Woods (Treasurer City of Dunkirk) could confirm that for you. No one has ever said they where cash strapped- they needed volunteers. Not knowledgeable? Are you? Do you have any idea what it takes to put a program on the air?? Have you ever volunteered one minute of your time for the benefit of someone other than yourself? I'd bet not. Danny ran the cable Board not the day -to day at the studio. Christa ran that and put most of the live programs on the air by herself. She had a few dedicated volunteers- but most got tired of the city shuffling the location of the studio from one location to another.

As far as Dan McGill retiring from Walmart I would be careful what kind of slanderous tone you take, before you spew untruths on here. Get your facts straight and go whine to someone who'll believe your B. S.
