For years(30), I have noticed many plastic tampons along the shores of Lake Erie about four miles west of Dunkirk NY. Nothing against women, but it is a contributing factor(minimal) and Dr.Mason has the opportunity to become another individual who made a For Real contribution to our local Eco- System. She may be able to have an affect on the lives of millions of Humaniods(fisherman). Go after Tampax and get a national 25 cent deposit on all plastic drinks and I will be impressed.

Who would have thought that a lake that once caught on fire would be considered to be polluted by oil based plastic particles?!?

Just remember, this is the same water that the city and county want to use to supply the entire region with water.

So, the same water that many times a year we cant swim in is safe to drink?

You mean the sane water that NRG releases into the harbor as waste water? The same harbor we drink from?

The same water that countless other factories dump their waste in from Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Chicago and on and on?

This is why we are considered to be in a multiple sclerosis/auto immune hot spot.

Let me get this straight, you are worried about tampon containers? Practically any filter would remove that when we have thousands of cabins and cottages that still release untreated feces into the lake? Or how about all of the selfish homeowners who pipe the storm water from their gutters into the waste water stream. In heavy storms this overloads the plant and not only does this cost the city more it also raises the risk again of feces entering our drinking supply. Not to mention the forementioned fascory waste from upstream. Yum, lets all have a nice cold glass of lake erie water.
