Has anyone lived or known anyone that has lived in the Chadwick Bay Lofts? Just curious if anyone knew the rent and if the apartment was pet friendly, thanks for your time.

The biggest problem I would have living there is the area in which it is located. That part of the city is not as safe as other parts. The website homepage shows the units to be spacious and nicely designed. I would imagine the rent is not "cheap" and utilites could be high as the units have very high ceilings.

Heard of somebody that lived there finding their car sitting on cinder blocks with all four wheels stolen off the car over night.
Nice apartments. TERRIBLE location.

Who would pay that much money to live next to railroad tracks? If you don't enjoy peaceful and quiet nights...this place is for you

In response to your post, Chadwick bay lofts are very nice and the utilities are actually less expensive than most other apartments in the area because the owners used high efficiency everything, including tankless water heaters. Very reasonable utilities. The apartments are generally always filled. The best part is that the owner/landlord is a super guy, very attentive and really takes care of the building. By the way, there's a no pet policy in the building. Also, there are two upper floors of apartments but no elevator...so might be an issue for seniors. However, the stairways are spacious so getting furniture to an apartment is easy. Building is also super secure, ups and fed ex can't even get in to deliver packages to tenants unless they can reach the tenant by phone so they can come down to the door. Also, there are exterior security cameras on the building. If I didn't have a dog I would rent an apt there in a minute! They are the nicest apartments in the area hands down. Corian countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, brick exterior walls, very nice! As for the neighborhood...it is not dangerous, it's just an older neighborhood, mostly commercial and old stock homes but definitely no a bad neighborhood, nor dangerous. It's two blocks from the Lake and boardwalk/marina!

Lastly, the apartments are different sizes/different prices. There is a smaller apartment that's mentioned above, but most are bigger. That one is more like an efficiency, the kitchen/living area are together in an open area.

In response to "peace", the only thing you are correct about is the utilities. The apts. are very small with no wall space or living room area. Cannot fit all your furniture unless you want to stub your toe on your coffee table or bump in it because it sticks out too much! The rent is outrageous for what you get. Especially for this area of Dunkirk. It is loud on weekends in the summer with music from the boardwalk, people walking by late at night, swearing and yelling, coming home from the bars. Keep your windows closed. The trains are loud and distracting also. The camera that overlooks the parking lot is worthless. If you ask the landlord to check it if you have a problem, he always says, he can't see anything on the tapes. He takes a long time to take care of issue's and doesn't always respond. He's nice to you when you rent the place, and then doesn't care once your a tenant. Very fake, selfish, and cheap with money. This building was cheaply made. The appliances are not stainless, there are centipedes that crawl out of the brick walls, and on to your ceilings, or floors. The landlord will not get an exterminator. He will tell you to buy spray. The steps are horrible. Lugging laundry and groceries up 40 steps! Too cheap to install an elevator. Yes, there is a security door, but if you want to get packages from UPS or FEDEX, forget it. They cannot leave them. You have to have deliveries made to your work or parents home. You cannot even get an observer because no one can get in. The floors are not hard wood, it is flooring that looks like wood. Do I need say any more about the Chadwick Lofts???? You are in denial.

Ohh to read of nice lofts in Dunkirk right near the waterfront to enjoy our truly nice lake. Then, of course, we add the fine people of Dunkirk making false statements and half truths; about everything regarding the lofts and it becomes obvious why Dunkirk is Dumkirk. So cosmopolitan, forward thinking and plain liberally urban.

why should people make up half truth's about the lofts? These things are really true, and there are more problems. Why don't you pay the high rent and see if you have your parking spot when the people going to the fireworks every 4th park in the Chadwick lot! There are tons of cars in the lot and no spots for the tenants. Don't blame Dunkirk people for the criticism, most of the tenants are from out of town. Dunkirk people won't live in that area and won't pay those prices for such a small space. What lake view? Your looking at a public parking lot and 2 churches.

Then why are you living there? Did you do your research before moving in? Did you ask other tenants about any issues? Lake view, no not really a lake view, but you would know that if you walked into the apartment while considering the lease. Or did you go in blindly? Stop complaining.

We don't live there anymore. And yes, we did not do our research and went in blindly because we needed a place.
