read the Common Council article in the Observer this morning. Funny I just drove by the Boardwalk and there were 2 cars there, I think both of them were the shop owners as a matter of fact. Kayak thinks tourism is a 12 month deal here in Dunkirk?? Better take a real look around.

I rolled my eyes when I saw her comment. Has she not been down there in January? Stupid comment. Stupid woman. She has not contributed in one positive way since in office.

If she wants to really save money for Dunkirk, she should eliminate her position. Why do you naad a council-at-large if you have one for every district already?

What does this woman know? It's colder than a witches boob down there in the Winter and those shops have NO heat! The wind off the lake is brutal! Nobody goes down there in the Winter. Then again, isn't she from Georgia? I cannot for the life of me see anything she's done since she parked her arse at the head of the table. Give it up and give the job to somebody who really knows what's going on.

They all may be eliminated next November if AJ's budget goes thru for 2013. From the sound of things, they may even up the rate even more. Time will tell.

I don't think I've ever heard so many people comment on so many things they know nothing about. Incredible!

What is it that we know nothing about? The weather at the bwalk is freezing in winter, Kyak is clueless, or tourism is 12 months in Dunkirk, NY? You need to make yourself more clear.

Buster Brown is a great place, run by great people. I'm proud that more businesses are coming down to Dunkirk. Be more supportive if a flourishing city is what you want to see.

By the looks of the grammar and spelling in your newspaper, I'd be careful of being critical of anyone.

Not sure what they will be doing about the heat for those stores, but I plan on visiting the pier shops if they are open in the winter. Why shouldn't Dunkirk look at 12 month tourist draw? There is still ice fishing, the ski resorts and snowmobile trails are near by, the wineries are still open, the college does preformances,etc... Dunkirk still has potential, people just need to come together and make it happen. Our success as a city doesn't just fall to those in office.

After speaking to some of the shop owners, they say their numbers are way down in October due to the lack of tourists passing through. Not sure that staying open thru the winter would pay for the heat, electric, and the shop owner's time. Not much going on they say. Ice fishing is on Lake Chautauqua, wineries sell their own products, etc.

Maybe they should do some advertising. I have family in Jamestown and Erie and they have no idea this thing even exists. They could do well throughout the year if they tried. Most of the businesses started closing early in August. Really? And you expect to have a successful business?
