If you want the best in the area-try The Brotherhood of St. Joseph-known as St. Joe's-50 Clinton St. Northeast, Pa. Full soup and extremely fresh salad bar, choice of potato, huge portion of fish, home crafted deserts. It also costs $11.50.

Silver Creek VFW is the best as far as I'm concerned.

I've been searching. I tried the Sheridan VFW twice and it sucked both times. Maybe just bad luck, but it's a long drive for "maybe" being a good week. Fredonia Legion on E Main across from the church is really great, but only open during lent, now. The Liberty fish is good, but the acoustics are awful and the place is deafening, and the sides are sometimes disappointing. Kettle and Keg is decent, too, though the fish got smaller, over time. I haven't been to Kosciuszko Polish Club (the Dog House) on E Doughty St in years, but they used to be good. Anyone else find any good ones? The Big Indian in Irving has a good one, and huge, if you're up for the drive. I prefer their breaded to their battered, and they have a nice soup and salad bar. I'm gonna try the Seneca Hawk, too, now that they've re-opened. I'm also gonna try the Moose and the K of C in Dunkirk next and will post.

Dejohns in Fredonia is by far the best in the area as far as what we prefer. Everyone has their own specifications.

Hidden jewel- I am always in search of good fish fry, and have found another good one. The K of C (Knights of Columbus) on 3rd St in Dunkirk. It's a small unassuming place, very informal, and a short menu. While the broiled fish in Reg, Cajun, or Garlic is a little more, the basic fish fry in either regular batter or corn bread (my fav) is a remarkable $8.75, and the bar has dollar drafts. Coffee is a courtesy. Amazing........

Also tried the Moose Club (The Old Rush's Restaurant by the Point) and it's a good one, too. Nice big piece of fish with all the usual. You can sit in the dining room or in the bar. Prices are pretty typical.
