On Thursday morning Normie Odebralski was robbed and beaten up while he slept in his home on Pangolin St. He is disabled and has been doing his best to be independent. He is not suppose to be hit in the head and that's exactly what they did to him. Not only did they steal his property they took more from him then can ever be replaced. If you have any tips or know who did this awful crime please contact the Dunkirk Police. Anyone who knows Normie from the social clubs, baseball games and growing up in Dunkirk knows that he is a great guy so please help him out. Don't let these jerks do this to another person!

I agree 100%. This city is going to crap. Our elderly are being robbed just trying to go to the store. Homes, vehicles are being broke into. This used to be a city where you left your doors unlocked, and your kids played outside until your parent whistled for you to come home. Now you bolt your doors and dont let your kids out of your sight.Something needs to be done! As a home owner and tax payer,I ask what is being done to stop this?? And when?? When someone does get shot breaking into the wrong persons home? And what then? You have a hard working home owner going through alot of shit for defending himself and property? I just dont get it.

seriously? Where do you live these days and keep your doors unlocked? Its not just Dunkirk, its society everywhere. Wake up. And I don't think voting for officials or not is the problem. They didn't bring them here, wake up. Its not 1960 anymore, its 2013. New year, new problems....

While it sucks we are finally sering the crime here..those who said its not just dunkirk are right. We have little to no crime here compared to the majority of the rest of the world. Thats what happens when you live in the middle of nowhere. Its seems like society is finally catching up to us.

Is the brother out of jail? Maybe one of his associates. I didn't realize Norm was still with us. Poor guy doesn't deserve that no matter who his brother is.

I moved back to Fredonia several years ago and lived there for about 7 years ago before moving back to a big city. People made fun of me for putting an outside light on and wasting electricity, because, they said, "Nothing ever happens here." It just goes to show. I didn't know Normie, but I am sorry about what happened to him and hope he will be okay, and that they catch whoever robbed and hurt him. Let me add that I am on disability, partly as the result of a severe head injury that wasn't treated right at the time. And I had been working and paying taxes, and continued to work, with difficulty, for a few years afterward. Of course, no one can see this. While in Fredonia (and now), I did/do my best to be as independent as possible. Yet a lot of people in Fredonia looked down on me for being on "welfare," that is, when they weren't calling me a "psycho" for being on disability. I never broke into anyone's home, or robbed and attacked anyone. Maybe some people in Chautauqua County should be less judgmental and stop lumping everyone on disability or welfare into one boat, without even trying to know anything about their personal situation. And not all crime is committed by people on welfare. There is plenty of violent behavior by some people with jobs, and there always has been a lot of domestic violence and child abuse in Chautauqua County, which also causes or contributes to some people becoming disabled. Though I guess it's not considered a crime unless you attack strangers. The people who commit this abuse are often considered okay as long as they have jobs, while their disabled victims are looked down on for being "lazy."
you are even farther off

All someone needs to do is kill one of these scumbags, justifiably of corse, and it will send a message to the rest of them that they are next. Problem solved!
