I watched the HBO documentary "No One Dies In Lily Dale" tonight. I was wondering if anyone could comment on their own personal experiences from Lily Dale. The documentary left me undecided as to if there is any truth to what happens out there or not.

No doubt that some of it is real.

Years before I met my wife, she was well-described by a medium at Lily Dale. I have it on tape and was amazed at the accuracy.

This is not to say that some of it isnt crap, too. I am sure that is the case as well.

But, I am as sure as i can be that some readings are quite accurate and impossible to have faked.

Going to Lily Dale this week for 3 days. My second time there. My friends go quite often. I like going especially for the healing services. Personal readings can get expensive, but there are free readings going on at all the temples if you are on chosen from the audience and it's nice just listening to everyone elses. The temples are very tiny and get crowded very fast. Healings are done individually and they try to get to everyone, so sit up front. Personal readings---I'm still pretty sceptical. I think a lot of it is in how gulliable you can be to this. My friends believe in them and go back all the time. Quaint little town. $10 a day gate fee but includes all talks and events. Personal readings are separate. Must make appts. months in advance. We stay at the Angel House right inside. Makes for a nice and different kind of weekend get away.

I believe 100% that some people have psychic ability. I too have a tape of a reading that gave names, descriptions and even mentioned an inside joke that I had with a friend. It was random and it had to do with lost underwear in the lake when we were kids. We had laughed about it for years and called that incident "operation skivveys' not ever mentioning the details. The medium told me that my friend was there ( I was skeptic at this point) and she was happy that I had met my husband (his name was given) also the medium who was' speaking' to my friend (out loud and I initially thought this was almost funny) had said while laughing " I don't know if this makes sense to you but I am supposed to tell you that your underwear is still in Lake Erie". I was stunned. There was no way that would have come up. He also said she was thrilled I was going to have a baby, a daughter and she wished she was here with me but she will always be around. I didn't believe this part as my husband and I had fertility problems and three failed invetro attempts. We were in the process of adopting a son. When I went home and told my husband he laughed it off and said "well go get a test if you believe this quack". So I did. The test was not 100% so I took three. I was in fact pregnant AND had a girl.

I have been to Lily Dale many times as well as my family. The HBO -"No One Dies In Lily Dale" in my opinion did not do justice to Lily Dale or the Mediums. Rev Gregory Kehn for one -is one of the most accurate mediums there- if not the most accurate. I not even sure that the second lady that was waving her Bible all over the place wasn't some actress. It is very odd that a someone so closed minded would come thousands of miles to a place they do not even believe in. They showed one healer doing a healing and never even touch on the beautiful Healing Temple. For anyone that has never been to Lily Dale and is unsure-- please do NOT base your opinion on what you saw on this truly "hollywood" version of such a peaceful and spiritual place. It was clear that all HBO was worried about was their ratings and not the true picture.

I was in the film "No One Dies In Lily Dale" My personal feelings on Lily Dale after going there (this was my 1st time EVER)was that there is a "presence" there..perhaps a force....electrically charged air current...SOMETHING..... that you can actually feel in the air. I had readings from 3 different mediums...all of which were MORE than accurate on numerous facts that only I knew about. They contacted family members that had passed over years before and described them in ways that only I would be able to recognize. Example - One medium described the presence of a younger man that reeked of alcohol and swore like a sailor. My brother had passed away 15 years earlier (at 42 years of age). He died from cirrhosis of the liver (he drank himself to death). He also had a mouth that would make even the most hardened person cringe...and he worked on an ore boat on the Great Lakes. Coincidence? Well, if she pulled that out of her hat just hoping to strike a positive hit then all I can say is she was batting 100. That was only one instance that occurred there that was right on....there were about 10 other things that they were right about. One thing that had me stumped was when the medium described an elderly woman cradling a child (she struck the pose of what she was seeing)that I could not connect with at the time. Upon coming home that night I pulled out the FEW (and I mean few) family photos I had. The third one I picked up was a photo of my grandmother who passed 25 years ago...and she was sitting there cradling my firstborn child in her arms. That was the ONLY picture I had of my grandmother. Looking at the picture ...was just as the medium had demonstrated to me at the earlier session I had with her. Exact...and I mean exact same pose!!! My questions were answered when I went to Lily Dale. I am sure that there are quacks everywhere you go but I would have to say that in Lily Dale you won't find one. I'd also like to say that Steven Cantor was one heck of a nice, down-to-earth guy. You would never know from talking to him that he was anything but an every day type of person. The only criticism I have on the film was that the stories were more broken up than I would have liked to see. It would have been easier to follow if they would have started one story and finished it in the same segment. Other than that...it was very interesting. I think it depicted Lily Dale in a positive way.

I would recommend Gerta Lestok or Sherry Lee Calkings. I saw both of them and they both told me things only I could understand. Good luck!

Patty Lillis is amazing!!! I've been going to her for years and have had about 10 readings from her. Theres also a women named pamela who a friend says was dead on with her reading. I've taken many friends to see Patty, even a few guys that thought is was BS walking in and they came out in tears. She said things that she couldn't have guessed not in a million years. Even walking around lillydale is peacefull, quiet and everyone is friendly. If you go, check out inspiration stump. You can walk around in the summer and some have signs up that they are giving readings, some are by appointment only. If you want to save a few bucks wait for winter time and make an appointment. Great experience, beautiful place. theres also two pretty cool gift shops, one is a bit more expensive than the other. If you want more info check it out online. Hope you enjoy it.

Gregory Kehn is the one that got the details of my wife correct all those years ago.

Also, in the HBO film, the black gentlemen is talking on the phone to his wife and raving about one reading. The film makes it seem that he is talking about Mr. White, a very nice man and fine Medium, but in fact the reading at issue was done by Mr. Kehn.

The film was intentionally misleading in this regard. This was not in any way Mr. White's fault, of course. But Mr. Kehn was being set up as the bad guy, for some reason, so the good comments had to be misdirected.

Also, the "protesters" were paid actors. How else could it be that protesters show up for the film crews, when in 150 years their have never been protesters.

Lily Dale is a treasure and we are very fortunate to have it in our County.

I agree with you 100%-- HBO used a lot of quotes out of context-ESPECIALLY when it came to Rev Gregory Kehn--throughout the entire show. I also feel they did not present Lily Dale for what it is-- not one mention of the religion believes or about the energy and history of the grounds or even how it really got started. I am glad someone else who understands the history and beauty of Lily Dale also spoke up about the shortcomings of this show.

I'd have to say Patricia Price and Sherry Lee Caulkins Smith are the best Mediums in Lilydale. Many say Rev.Gregory Kehn is good but 3 years ago he made claims to work with Law Enforcement even posting it on his website. When my cousin was murdered I contacted him and he was wrong about everything and shortly after took it off his website he works for Law Enforcement.Rev.Kehn couldnt give me one name of any Law Enforcement Officer he worked with.Psychic Detective Nancy Myer gave me 57 names now thats a person who can back it up.

My husband and I went to Barbara Sanson in 2006, and I highly recommend her. She was very specific and right on the money on a number of things (contact with friends and relatives who had passed on) that only we would have known about, and we answered her mostly with just "yes" or "no" responses. I went a few years later to two other Lilydale mediums (don't remember their names) and it was a completely different experience. One psychic told me that she saw a "dark energy" in me, and that she didn't "know what that was all about." I could have told her that it was me preparing to tackle her to get my money back.:)
