The only Syracuse men's basketball player who averaged 23 points per game in the history of the program was Dave Bing, and you ain't Dave Bing. No woman at Syracuse came close to averaging 23 points per game. Therefore you are a phony windbag, and a tad stupid too.

All this over the place where everything pools up when the rest of NY flushes its toilet? Let's be honest, Chautauqua County is the septic tank of the state.

Such a sophisticated response. Not feces, corpus expulsion, or other proper term for solid bodily waste excretion? And if I'm the turd that was missed, how did I make it here? Trying engaging brain before engaging your keyboard my dearest Edward, if that really is your name.

I'm pompous? Maybe. Associated with a public institution of higher education in this NY? No. Entertained by the juvenile behaviour displayed on these forums? Yes, thoroughly.

Having been born in the hospital there and growing up in Lake Bay, Then in Angola until the Vietnam war took me to the draft, I would have to say, since I dated my fair share of the country girls over there, it was OK. The Bijou, run by the Geitner family was a trip. Necking in the theater, going to the park, quiet, nice, country.
Problem is that all the industry moved out, for the most part. going through downtown Silver Creek, Dunkirk and Fredonia with all the closed up shops and the dummies still in the windows naked, an occasional drunk in the park, the same as all the businesses along route 20 when the thruway went in. There is just nothing there unless you grow grapes or apples.
I guess the country girls are there but they might be on some sort of dope now or what ever is going around on the STD front, I would be afraid to mess around if I could roll back the clock 45 years.
On the lighter side, the University is nice and the crime rate is not bad, you could probably buy a house pretty cheap if you are retired, the beach in the summer was nice, the folks were friendly. But who knows now, Over the years, I have lived in my share of toilet towns where you could hardly go out without your gun.. It was fun when I was young. It could not have been better.
It has now been since I was 18 since I was there, except once 25 years ago, and even then it was dead. I worked for a while in a old folks home called Park Shore, and except for the pay, was the most fun job I ever had, and I have had a lot of jobs, now waiting for my social security. I will never move back but it was a blast in the past.
The world is different now, people are crazy, they go and kill for no reason, the prisons are full, the cops are unprofessional, for the most part. You have to carry a gun, you read in the paper about some jerk killing children and even his own mother for GODS sake. That county is nice. I have no regrets, except for the doped up crazys with the guns.
In parting, let me give you an example. There is this punk that lives with his mother who does not want him around, at age 17, because he brings in all these a-holes who want to be the benefactor to mother the sister of his that is 14 or so. The mother dumps him off on the grandmother and, as a little kid, had an uncle there whom he minded, I fixed his toys as a kid, spoke with him about education and the treatment of people kindly, especially the old and the poor. He grew up into a dirtbag and over 3 years ago started to urinate on my house until I could catch him in court, so it took two misdemeanors to get him away from me because I could not rubber hose a minor, especially after the presidents' son, Treyvon Martin was killed. It is just a different world now.

you probably don't have a job because you never finished high school. Make your own job. Be a businessman with your own business. Do remodel work. Plenty of oldsters who need a light put in. Clean garages and basements and then sell the stuff in the flea market on Walden Avenue. Heck, even the Amish sell their goods there and make a killing. You got a truck? You got a job. Do storage units. Cut grass and make sure you rake it up clean. See, plenty of work for the man in need. Want to hang drywall, Go to Angola and ask for the King of Drywall, he will hook you up. Don't cry about a job, Look, O-Blomo, the puppeteer allows 47 percent of the population to get welfare and foodstamps. Go to the nearest dumpster and get a jacket and hit the federal building. Tell them O-Blowhard sent you for your worth, or is it nothing?????

I am new here and the place is very backwards. backwards in domestic animal protection, backwards in caring about the community, politicians/officials seem like good 'ol boys and the newspaper is behind the times, not rural, just backwards. Chautauqua Co, is beautiful but again..no enforcement for domestic animal abuse or neglect, when you are riding through these beautiful grape fields etc..you see many many chained and neglected dogs..sorta takes away from the whole experience. I find the people friendly overall but the running of the place a bit emabarrassing
Hey Budnick, You don't know what backward is. Domestic animal protection used to be tying cat tails together. and then taking then to the Geitner Theater and throwing them on the stage, not a rat in the house. Enforcement, wrong again bud. There is an enforcement officer in the do-nut house there, enforcing the glazed cinnamon rolls. The people are great, so is the pot and the bum that sleeps in the laundromat beside the railroad tracks on main street. He can give directions. If you don,t like it, move on.

Let's see:
1. THERE ARE NOT 47% of the American People on food stamps and welfare. That information is a made up figure that actually accounts and includes, disbaled veterans, veterans receiving retirement benefits, social security payements, social security disability, welfare generally, heap and the like. Now a couple of points: I pay into social security because I WORK. It is not an entitlement, period. Veterans retirements benefits are earned through service to this nation. The is waht represents the 47% obviously you, your ilk and Mitt Romney now repeat this LIE like it is truth, just another lier of THE Republican Party. YOU lost the election you could stop lying for awhile untilt the next election cycle starst up, at least for a bit anyway.

Yes, I remember the smell of fresh air too. I loved the sound of the cows and chickens. Our neighbor had a rooster that crowed all the time. I remember swimming in ponds and lakes all by ourselves. We used to have big fires in a fire pit in the yard and toast marshmellows. There is somethig so peaceful about that. It was a time in my life that had nothing to do with pressure or the grind of making money and working in corporate america. Sometimes I wish I could go back to those days again. Yes, memories...

Chautauqua County is well ABOVE average regarding water quality,83 on a scale of 1 - 100. The US average is 55. Air quality is another thing as we are at the mercy of the prevailing westerlies. It sure isn't all the industry around here JIM.
