I agree! The Big Dipper is way pricey.(LOL @ The Big Jipper!) I personally think Sullivan's is pricey as well. I have to have AT LEAST a twenty in my pocket to take my 3 kids out for ice-cream at either place and that's just for sundaes. I don't allow them to have anything fancier than that simply because of the cost. People at work were just talking about this the other day. One guy said he and his wife went to Sullivan's and it cost the two of them $24 for dinner!
As for Dipper only hiring girls, hmmm. That doesnt sound like an Equal Opportunity Employer to me. Wonder why the aversion to hiring males?

We walk down to Big Rick's One Stop in Dunkirk. They have $1, $2, and $3 cones. The $1 cone is enough for an adult and it is suppose to be a baby/child cone. Can't beat that price. We have not been back to the Big Dipper since we discovered Big Rick's.

I agree but I call it the "Big Ripper"after two cones for over $5.00 and hardly any ice cream. I too questioned the girl if there was sort of mistake.

I am no longer in the area but I am not far away. I also grew up right down the street from the big dipper. I have to tell you all come to the Rochester and you'll pay $5.00 for a small, so $9.00 for a small and a large isn't bad from where I come from. When cost to the business goes up they have to increase there prices or close down.
well aren't you as bright as the sun? when a 1/2 gallon is $5 in the store, nothing justifies a $5 small.

I went there yesterday - terrible customer service - there were 3 people in front of me - a guy and a girl who were together - another girl waiting in line. The two girls who were working behind the counter were both in the back behine the machines - I could see they were both making banana splits - the owner comes out -even says hi to me - and goes and stands behind the two girls making the splits. By that time a man had come in and was standing behind me and another couple with a few kids. We are all standing there waiting.....the guy walked out. Then the one worker comes back and gives the guy his split - then he decides he wants cookies too so she gets him his cookies and, of course, he has to charge it. She's doing that and the other girl gives the 2nd split to the girl waiting. I finally got waited on and got my ice cream. They have to have a better system.....but then again it seems that the owner doesn't care either
