Tops is currently preventing the development of the former Tops site in the Town of Dunkirk on Vineyard Dr. Since Tops has moved to its current location, Tops has elected to pay the lease on the former Tops site (Across the street) to prevent any corporation that has a grocery store in their portfolio from leasing the site. Simply put they do not what to take the risk of a grocery store or any retail store that sells grocery from moving in their. To prevent any store that could potentially sell groceries at that location, Tops pays $10,000 per month to keep that site vacant and to keep jobs from the area. Additionally, Tops also pays the lease of the former Quality at the Plaza to prevent any grocers from moving there. This occurred when Tops bought out quality.

Both Target Corp. and Wegmans have been shut out by Tops from all bidding processes because Tops doesn't want a grocer moving in. The end result is a property that is rotting and the community being denied jobs. BOYCOTT TOPS!

If Target Corp. and Wegmans want to service the area they'll purchase the land to do so anyway!

Wegmans has the Right of First Refusal on the land (a small house and accompanying land) on the property across from Walmart.

Not true, neither Wegmans nor Target are wanting to move into this area. Tops is a nice clean store with abundant choices. BJ's is good also for stocking up on large quantities of non-perishables.

Whenever Im in a large urban area, Buffalo, Syracuse, etc, Ive noted all of the grocery store parking lots are filled with customers. Why would food stamps be a problem? Its a swipe card(debit) with a pin number, and people are using them in affluent areas too!

Why didn't the DMV move to part of that store?

IMO there is no way another supermarket chain will be built in the Dunkirk / Fredonia area with the upcoming factory closings.

maybe if you had an education you would not have to work 3 jobs , If you had any smarts you could get one good paying job instead.

What a jerk. This person should be admired, not put down. I'd bet your parents were blue collar as well, and now you look down on others. You ARE a loser!
