Solar panels make power bills vanish

"“As a utility, we support the research and development of renewable energy technologies,” Jacobs said.“They hold great promise.”
But, she noted,“the sun does not shine at night. So what do you do? You rely on traditional forms of electricity. And we’re required to have enough capability to serve all customers 24 hours a day.”"
Well, Jacobs, utilities will have to build energy storage along the utility grid to save the extra energy during the day and allow extra energy into the grid during sags in the power grid. Jacob and the utility like ilk should wake up to the very real possiblity of individual homeowners getting their own storage system which puts the utility as secondary in the homeowner's electric generation needs or use.
