This is way too close to home. This was the mall that I raised my kids at, ate at the food court, bought their shoes, shopped for school clothes, prom dresses, everything...I played on the property it was buidlt on a zillion years ago when it belonged to D. Hill Nursery. This is a tragedy. I hope the young man is ok and that they find the shooter(s) as soon as possible!

I cannot believe this-I just took my 2 year old to Barnes and Noble the night before.(which is only a few entrances away from the kohls) Is there any safe place to bring your kids out anymore? We live in Lake in the Hills and I feel like these shootings are getting closer and closer to our home.
What ever happened to communicating with each other instead of shooting each other? I mean come on people-go argue it out at home.
And to 'Liza from Streamwood'...isnt the minority in Streamwood white americans? What an ignorant comment-white people dont commit crimes? Watch the news, the 'whites' seem to be on alot lately for corruption within politics, teachers sleeping with their students...need I go on. I am a white person myself and when people make comments like yours it disgusts me-no wonder the world is the way it is--we havent even moved forward from racism in what a 100 years now?
Whatever the situation was, no matter what race commited the crime-there is a young victim whom we should be praying for his recovery and thats the bottom line.

Everyone who reads these blogs just needs to IGNORE LIZA and her ignorant comments!
I've found her postings in numerous places and they're ALWAYS ALWAYS inappropriate, senseless, rude and stereotypical!
She's looking for a rise out of people and will keep coming back with comments after comments.
Seriously - just ignore her and maybe she'll go away.
She clearly has nothing better to do at work than to read numerous posts and constantly add her own malicious and bigoted two cents in.

Back to the story, I also grew up near that mall and hung out there all the time! The area has changed since the 80's when I was there, but still - it's scary. Seems no where is safe!

What mall is this Spring Hill Mall? I hope it wasnt some type of random gang initiation or if the kid was a direct target. Regaurdless its so senseless I hope security cameras catch the fools... spring break when kids are out of school more crime rise I cant imagine summer time.

Very sad indeed. My daughter and I were there the night of the shooting. It happened right after we left.. It is very scary in this world these days.

I agree with u ladys, I my self went to the mall w/ my baby the night before this insident and i remember thinking what if i was caught in a situation like the one at tinley park, what would i do, such a scary thought and yet look what happened the following day. why is it so hard to get along, respect each other or just go about ones business. the only thoughts i have now are thank the lord for online shopping because i dont feel safe exposing my daughter to the randomness of these events. I think its time we start getting closer to our saviors word and to practicetolarense andvalue our worth as human beings, we people in america are so blessed why dont we embrase that....(spelling is bad typing w/one hand 7 month old in other.
