Good evening! I have also been doing many searches on the internet to help my family with christmas this year. In january of this year I was on my way to work with my two children in tow and with child inside, I fell down some stairs. I herniated a disc in my lower back, have cauda equina syndrome(loss of bowel and bladder functions), I have severe nerve damage which causes me to fall because of weakness and numbness in legs. I lost my job immediately and have been to numerous doctors appointments and have many prescription copays. Now my husband does have a job but in all fairness we have little resources due to my medical condition. Unfortunately, I will not be able to return to work. I have applied for ssd but that takes months to recieve or fight with to get it. I need help! I feel like a bad parent because I cannot provide many things my children need or want. I cannot afford a simple one dollar gift at the dollar store due to more than 200 dollars in copays a month. By the time my husband gets paid it is gone. If you can help me or know someone who can please email me at KLTL0@yahoo.com(that is a zero at the end). Thank you

Hello. Like you guys my story is similar. I am 22 years old and I have two little girls, ages 4 and 2. We are a low income family, and I am also a full time college student and single-mother so money is very scarce. I have no help, and I was hoping to find some information online to help me with christmas this year. Normally chistmas isn't a big thing to me since my children are so young, and are happy with the little things that I can do for them. Unfortunately in June this year, We had a house fire and we lost everything--Including one of my children's best friends who lived next door and died in the fire. I really want to do something special for my children since they've lost all of thier toys, and since the adjustment to our new lives has not been easy. I have no money. The fire and other life issues have set me back financially then I would normally be this time of year (which wasn't much to begin with) If we don't get any help, they won't have a christmas. If ANYONE could provide some direction on where I could get help I'd appreciate it. I can be contacted at: lking4@emich.edu. Thank you and God Bless.

Hi, I also have 5 kids, and somehow I've missed going to sign up for it at the salvation army, when I called to sign up I was told that the last day was yesterday, I asked about a remake day but they said they didn't have one, if anyone knows about any adopt a family programs please e-mail me, cali_28@live.com

I have 5 small kids, and it's not fair that they don't offer a remake day.

Hello. My family is also on need of assistance this year. I'm married with 3 children ages 15, 6, and 4. All of the children have birthdays coming up very soon as well, 1 in Novemeber, and the other 2 in December. My hasbund has been in since August 2007. He is able to work and has two jobs, but some days he is no able to work either one. I also have 2 jobs but they do not bring in enough to meet the bills and put food on the table. We have already had our vehicles repossesed and had to buy junk cars. Out house payments are behind and will soon be in forclosure. We do not have a family support system that would be willing to help out. Not really sure where to turn to any more. We just qualified for Link Card as of yesterday which was such a blessing, went grocery shopping today. If there us anyone wou there who can help or knows someone who can help, I would appreciate any assistance at all. My e-mail is dcpt2001@hotmail.com. Thanks to all and God bless.

well, thier are alot of sad and touching stories on here.and i am truely sorry for thier struggles, but i live in east tennessee with my 8 year son xavier. he is healthy and doesnt have any special needs. but i am deffinately struggling and cannot afford christmas this year. he is my only child, but i am also his only parent.so i am reaching out to strangers for assistance. this is very hard for me to do but must swallow my pride, because this is my only hope. i will understand if nobody is willing to help me because i dont have a "story" to tell. but im being honest and asking for kindness simply because i cannot afford to buy christmas and also pay my rent, gas ,and electric all at one time. i hope you all are safe, healthy and have a good holiday season.thank you...email address is alenaxavier@yahoo.com or greekgirl865@gmail.com

Sadly we live in a world where there are many needy families especially in these hard economic times..........but, we also live in a world of hesitance on the part of people who maybe have a few extra dollars to spare......hesitance because unfortunately there are alot of scam artists out there who claim to have problems and need assistance but who actually have more assistance than those who they are asking for money from....which ruins it for people who actually do need help.
It's funny you read some stories and you feel bad, but then you read that they want playstations or xbox 360's or ipods.........families in need should be asking for clothes and food as if times are really that tough those are the greatest gifts that you AS PARENTS should give your children for Christmas.
That said, if your times are that tough my suggestion is to follow the proper channels and put your names on lists asking for assistance and if you qualify then you can get the help you need.
Saying you missed the cutoff or pointing the finger of blame on not getting help is not the responsible answer.........if you're not working you have time to scour websites or other government listings that list help sites.

We are a family of 4, 2 girls age 6 and 1. We have been struggling and doing our best for a few years now. We both work (me part time). We do a lot of our clothes shopping at resale stores. Food shopping at discount stores and have even recieved help from some of the local Pantries. We have taught our children that it is not how much you have but that you can give also. We donate our used clothes and shoes to the local charities. We have given away toys to other children who need them. This christmas is going to be tight. I could use gift certificates to Grocery stores or for gas. I understand that some people don't understand why people would ask for toys for their children instead of food and clothes. We have clothes and it is cheaper to buy at the resale stores. We can buy cheap food at the stores to get us through. All children know about Santa Claus and if the don't get a least 1 or 2 toys then they think the have been bad. That is why some people ask for toys instead of food/clothes. I agree that they should not be asking for play stations I Pods etc. But some crafts, dolls,or games. would make my children very happy. I am hoping that one day I will be able to help a family. If you can help then please help even if it is buying a barbie or a little boxof crayons, most kids just want something.

I understand why you feel this way but not all of us who need help are looking for expensive toys. Soome of us really just want 1 opr 2 things for our kids so they don't think Santa forgot about them. We are a family of 4, 2 girls age 6 and 1.
