be a leader not a follower.the supervisor at DJJ/gateway girls group supports every malicious, mistreatment, and miscondut from the director, not because she agrees, but because she is afraid! she knows that if she disagrees and go against the directors by using her own mind, that postion she holds will be gone. she does not have a say about anything. guess she will endure mistreatment for the sake of a position. what happen to your pride and self-respect? everyone has wittnessed you being mistreated also.we use to have sympathy for you. but since you dont care about us and yourself for that matter, continue to be humiliated.

after reading the comments concerning DJJ/ gateway girls group home i can only pray for them and hope help is on the way from the senators, rep. councils, and legal staff. it is shown that the DJJ agency doesnt care about the employees complaints and concerns. the employees sounds afraid and stressed. i advised the employes to keep their composure and i hope the senators of our state will rescue them. your jobs are already difficult and i commend everyone working frontline for the s.c. correctional agencies.

All comments made pertaining to Gateway girls group home are factual. The staff and employees there are reaching out for help. It's disappointing that Black employees throughout this system have been exposed to such bias and racism.

You folks from DJJ/Gateway Girls should send emails (anonymous if you like) with names and explicit details to all of the local news agencies. Stick to the facts but give as many names, dates, locations and details as you possibly can. Sometimes this will get the ball rolling.

Why should people have to result to this extreme to get help, when alot of those issues were brought to the attention of the proper authorities and they just ignore them or send them back down the corrupted chain of command. The entire system needs should be looked at starting with the top.

They absolutely shouldn't have to. I worked at SCDC for a VERY brief period of time (8 months) and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anywhere with the chain of command. Fortunately for me, I had the option to move on.

You only lasted 8 months? You weren't there long enough to find where the bathrooms were located. Sounds like you are a complainer. I have worked there for a number of years and just as anything else in life you get out of it what you put into it. You most likely walked in the door and instantly, you were an expert on penology. So, how's that job at the pantry store going for you?

Several years? I'm sorry to hear that.

As a matter of fact, that job made me do some real thinking about career choices. Not long after quitting, I started using my VA benefits to go back to school full time. Now I'm a rising junior at USC (chemical engineering, 3.5 GPA). When I graduate, I'll let you know how I'm doing. But I doubt you'll find me at the Pantry.

Long Over Due (or any other former SCDC employees) I'd love to chat with you at length off-list. You can reach me at dcbelle@hotmail.com, looking forward to hearing more.

I am surprised that now they want to probe into the SCDC management. I worked there for over 4 years, but the upper management is too corrupt for them to discover the truth. The good ole boy system and covering up things are their speciality. They will not get to the bottom of problem until they take a very clear and realistic approach. I have seen more middle management and wardens get early retirement than any other job that I held. People who have more than 5 years experience become the most corrupt because they become too close to inmates and feel like they have control over the corruption.
To fix the problem, the upper management will need to be replaced from top to bottom. There needs to be better leadership. Someone that can be creative in managing the prisions.

Sounds like the Republicans have converted the penal system into a corporation. Everything you mentioned is what happens in large corporations.
For your information
The staff at scdc as well as the inmates are almost all Democrats.
where you got a high percentage of blacks, you don't find Conservatives, you find socialists like you.
