Ed Darling rehash in Duncan

So who is already tired of Ed Darling, the self-loving publisher at the Duncan Banner?
It is interesting why someone comes back to a community after 20+ years. No one successful ever does that. No one with sense even tries.
And did anyone notice he has a different wife than from the first go-round?
Those affairs with previous Banner employees were just the tip of the mountain of issues with this really pompous and racially insensitive person.
Maybe if he would really read the comments from the public, he'd stop glossing over what the opinion on the street about him really is?
Darling is a carpetbagger. Was before. Still is.
We in Duncan don't give a rip about Alabama or where you've stolen from since the last time you were here.

I lived in Duncan in the 1980s.
Darling was a shill brought in by the late Al Hruby to increase the bottom line at The Duncan Banner.
Way back then, Darling acted like he was on board one of the initial covered wagons that helped settle Oklahoma. He was that in your face and that pricky.
It didn't fly then.
He wasn't accepted then by the power brokers. He was viewed as a carpetbagger who was everywhere but at home with his then wife.
We got a steady dose of Darling's attempts at trying to smooze into Oklahoma society. It was smarmy and sad. He got the gym and running track complex going - with the significant help of major contributors with money rolls he'll never see.
But it wasn't just him...but 20+ years later...you'd think it was the Darling Center from a dream he had from Stagestand.
Darling elicited massive pukes from all who ruled Duncan before. The reaction is the same today...just hidden and waiting for the opportunity he rolls snake eyes again.

I was out here looking in search engines for an article about something completely unrelated, focused on job and found link to this by pure luck.
Almost ruined my screen with LMAO while sipping coffee as words filtered into brain that was trying to work this morning. Thank you very much.
I never hear anything but praise for this person and my rather PC observations from working with him are called 'sour grapes' by smart folks ~*s
Bill 'n Justin, you made my day.

As simple as you seem, I'm sure a little more Jack Daniels or some of the generic whiskey you normally buy...will improve your perception. Too bad, neither education, nor surgery will chance what birth control should have stopped.
Drop dead. Moron.

to wish harm and or death upon me at the opening of an otherwise fairly polite thread is a sign of deep trouble. You may want to have your meds checked - you are welcome to bring it on of course, kinda sorry now I stopped them kids from egging your car ... in younger years I'ld share some 'generic Jack' with you but am strictly coffee 'n tea person these days ...

A nasty, stupid little man

If you want to know why the paper has gone downhill in the last two years, look no further than the sadist dictator who runs the place. More than 20 employees have left because of the treatment handed down to them from him during these two years.
He cannot be pleased no matter how much you bleed, no matter how many hours you put in. All "complements" are backhanded and followed by insult. He micromanages everything, yet, still nit picks at every single detail.
It is not the poorly paid, hard worked, under appreciated employees who stay there who are the cause. They do their best to present a quality product. However, when your "leader" demands that his "buddies," who don't even have a subscription, get onto the front page over leading news, it's difficult.

Mr. Darling isnt evil. In fact, Im sure his intentions are pure. His primary ambition in returning to Duncan from Ala-wherever wasnt to effectively ruin The Duncan Banner.
Under his leadership, The Duncan Banner has nearly seen a complete turnover in its roster. Mr. Darling is to blame. Poor management skills are the hallmark of his tenure at The Duncan Banner. The run of editors, sports and news, under his leadership would be comical if it were not true. Theres a reason no editor has lasted too long under the watchful eye of Mr. Darling. As stated above by Someone Who Knows, Mr. Darling doesnt know how to effectively manage human beings. His management philosophy is circa 1980. The industry and the folks in it have changed, Mr. Darling.
Above all, his inaccurate perception of Duncan, America is the catalyst that has led the current dire straits The Duncan Banner is in right now. Instead of recognizing Duncan, America and Stephens County as a Blue Collar community, Mr. Darling still panders and attempts to please the miniscule White Collar crown in Duncan and Stephens County. Shame on him.
Duncan deserves a better paper than The Duncan Banner can produce with Ed Darling at the helm. Shame on him. Lets hope he rides into the sunset soon. Duncan and Stephens County deserve it.

I completely agree with this thread, have followed this career for over 45 years, if folks only knew how many marriages with co workers have been distroyed.
