I was in Charleston yesterday and wanted to listen to my fav. radio station and it was playing Christmas music all day!? What concerned me was when the station identified itself as "Christmas 94.5".

What's going on?? Did z rock go off the air?

I can't believe that this radio station has decided to play Xmas junk for 2 months. That's 1/6 of the year. It's bad enough that we have to listen to the same songs over and over in the mall, the grocery store, the gas stations, and everywhere else (really, there's only so many christmas songs anywa, and they get old quickly) but now the only decent rock station has decided to play it for 2 whole months. WTF?

I was shocked, pissed off and hell, just plain GRUMPY. Someone please contact them to put a ban on the Christmas Crap next year. Let any other station do the honors. BTW, who in the hell agreed to this. I'd like to give them a personal lashing!!!!

Yeah, it's done and gone. Bristol Broadcating says it wasn't making enough money and they don't know what they'll do with it after Xmas. There's already enough country and pop staions on the air around here so who knows. As far as the remaining two rock stations 106 is good but the farther east you get from Chas. reception goes way down and is spotty here in St Albans. As far as 105 goes I never really listened to them, I don't listen to stations that play Journey or Bon Jovi.
Paying for XM or Sirius is an option but if you listen to the same channel every day you'll hear the same songs over and over even though they have millions to pick from. It's like they'll pick a 24 hour playlist and then just repeat that for weeks at a time.

I thought 106.3 was based out of Huntington? They're terrible anyway. 105 is ok, sometimes. But 94.5 played better music than most stations even in larger cities around the country. Very sad to see them go. I was listening to them on day, tuned in the next, and it was christmas music. oh well, i got a mastodon cd for 9 bucks at the mall on black friday so i'm happy for now.

I was told they were doing the 2 months of Xmas music. Then coming back with a diffrent type of music (not rock). Check their website

ALL regular radio sucks! Same songs, same bands, endless commercials, FAKE request lines!!Check out satellite radio...it is AWESOME!! Regular radio will probably always exist for news, sports, weather, talk, etc., but a a MUSIC source it is doomed!! And the radio industry does not seem to care while they are barely growing at all and sat. radio gets over 100,000 new subscribers per month! If you are a true music fan, check out satellite radio...you won't be disappointed!

Actually...the repetitive format you described is terrestrial radio, NOT satellite radio. The regular, terrestrial radio is NOT about music, it is about repetition and cramming as many commercials in as possible. Regular radio is doomed, except for new/talk/sports format. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but you are 100% WRONG about sat. radio...which is all about MUSIC, not commercials and computerized "playlists" (Yeessh!) Check out SIRIUS or Dish Network Radio and you may wonder HOW the terrestrial radio stations are even in business anymore!
