WOW, a speed increase between Route 29 and Prince William Parkway on I-66 to 70mph? What are we talkiing about here in distance, 1/2 mile to 1 mile. Not really worth the increase is it? By the time to increase your speed to 70, you have to slow back down to 60mph. Doesn't really make sense at this point.

Why do I suspect the Haymarket police department is behind this? Have people speed up an additional amount, then get them as they come into the Haymarket area not knowing the limit dropped back down.

If they are to raise the limit, then raise it all the way to I-81.

I can see raising the speed limit to 70 MPH (actually to 75 MPH would be great) from Haymarket to I81.

There's no good reason to raise it elsewhere.

More people would probably do 70 through there now if the Staties weren't always camped out looking for HOV violators.

Does the Haymarket Police department even have any jurisdiction on I-66? I thought they were just a few bumpkins that ran speed traps on Route 55.

They are frequently sitting in the median between Catharpin Road and US-15, and also waiting on the ramps both east and westbound watching for speeders.
