I will never understand thieves. That sense of entitlement makes me sick. "I want it, you have it, I'm taking it."

They'll get anything as long as they get paid cash money for it, or if they get the drugs instead. But Airbags? That's a new one to me.

MY airbag was stolen; my son's catalytic converter was stolen. What are these thieves doing? If there was no market for the stolen goods, there would not be so much theft. Receivers of stolen property should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law -- just as if they did the deed themselves.

I agree, except for the fact that these smelters (receivers of stolen property) don't really a have a logical way to determine if these parts were stolen. There are no serial or ID numbers on these parts. For all they know, the parts could've been salvaged from a junk yard.

Airbags I don't know why, but Catalytic converters are valuable because of the platinum inside them. A catalytic converter can fetch you $300 at a smelter. Bring in 2, 3, 4, even 5 of them, and you're looking at one heck of a payday. As metals such as gold, platinum, and copper continue to climb, more of these thefts will likely take place.
