Hello. My brother Kevin committed suicide in the Dumas, TX. area in the early part of 1983. I do not want to mention his last name as I do not want his name to get sucked into search engines.

He died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.

I was a freshman in high school in Ohio at the time. This event was a profound trauma to me.

He was from small town Ohio. He was in his early 20s, was 5'6, white, brown hair, brown eyes, etc. He grew up on a farm.

He had a number of issues/problems but I think what pushed him over the edge was a girlfriend thing that didn't work out or something like that.

If anyone remembers this or knew Kevin can you please respond in general in this forum and then I can offer my contact info., etc.

I am in the process of obtaining some official records.

What is the name of the local hospital?

Please no pranksters, etc.

This post is real and not fiction or imagination.

Thanks very much!

By the way, here is some more info. He died at the Parkview Mobile Home Park on Binkley avenue. He died 2/12/83 between 9-10 PM

The informant reporting my Brother's death was a James E. Smith. The coroner was Imogene Davis.

If anyone knows these two people or how I can reach them I would really appreciate it. All I want is to talk to them and get information so I can get a more complete picture of the situation, circumstances, etc.

I'm Kevin's younger brother.

Thanks very much.

I did try to contact him awhile back but didn't get a response. Is he still in power? I'm not sure he could help further.

I think I have found out about as much as I can for the Dumas area. I did get lots of info like death certificate, info from local funeral home where his body was taken, etc.

Death certificate gave location of death which was Parkview Mobile Home Park in Dumas, name of informant of death, coroner name, etc. Coroner is deceased. No records at local hospital,
Informant listed as a J.(middle initial withheld per privacy) Smith

Mobile home park is under different ownership now, man at park who lived there at time was actually not at home at the time, he gave me three leads, of these three one cooperated but did not pan out and the other 2 were unresponsive.

prior owner of Park when death occurred was a Mr. Phillips (full name withheld per privacy) who I have been told is now deceased

Informant on death certificate was listed as a J. Smith, I have tried calling and writing a letter to a J. Smith in Dumas but he has been unresponsive. I do have his middle initial. This is a common name so maybe I had the wrong person but maybe I didn't. I would love to talk to this person as it could be a very big break for me.

What I really wanted is like a friend or a room mate or girlfriend (or informant of death J. Smith) who he had at the time who I could talk to but I could not get this.

Of the three leads I was given by the man who lived there at the time (the mobile home park), one cooperated but fell thru and the other two were unresponsive by phone and by letter.

The one that fell thru was a Goldsmith who sounded like an older lady and she did not know anything about it, the other was another Goldsmith who like J. Smith, was unresponsive,

Now I will pursue info from the funeral home in Ohio where his funeral was held...

any addl help would be much appreciated!

my Brother also spent substantial time in Shattuck, OK., the areas he spent the most time in while in that region were Dumas and Shattuck, he died in Dumas

thanks everybody!!

Leonard - Just a suggestion - put an ad in the Moore County News Press. You might get some activity from that.
